Lord Velaryon examined the four men in front of him. His eyes narrowed.
"I'm inclined to check your credentials with Lord Horas Blackwood. However time is running short. Therefore I am going to allow you to continue northwards on your 'mission' ....all except for.....
he pointed at the one called Burt.
"...you.
"You will remain behind as a surety for your companions. When they return to make their report to Horas or with the King then you will be released.
"The rest of you will be escorted by some of my knights to Rosby. From what I have been told, that was where you were heading."
"No doubt Ser Garret, you will be pleased to make the acquaintance of Ser Rolland once again. Ser Rolland will give you supplies and some further instructions from me, when you arrive there. Depending on Ser Rolland's assessment of the situation he will then most likely send you to fulfil your mission."

Patrek looked at Burt apologetically. Burt only shrugged his expression remaining unreadable. "I see. Well one man is not going to change the outcome that much I hope. Could we borrow some horses to take us to Rosby then? They will of course be left with Ser Rolland Storm if you wish"

Lord Velaryon nodded.
"You will of course be provided with horses. These are dangerous times however. I will be sending twelve knights with you to make sure that you reach Rosby safely." Your escort will be ready to leave for Rosby in an hour."

"Thank you m'lord, I shall remember your kindness. Ser Rolland treated me quite well, you have a good man there". Patrek, Vardis and Danwell got their equipment back. Before Burt was led back to the other prisoners he hugged them making them feel uncomfortable. As Burt was led away he had a wistful smile.
Vardis looked at Patrek. "I didn't know he liked men". Patrek shrugged and shook his head "Northerners and their queer behaviour". Patrek looked at the knights that were to escort them. "Come on then, the King won't stay in one place forever". The King's Men continued their journey towards Rosby.

"Lord Velaryon", Connington said as he bowed his head in recognition. "Lord Blackwood told me that I should talk with you concerning where and when we start marching. Already my boys are starting to get anxious."

Jaehaerys rolled up a scroll he had been studying.
"Very well Lord Connington. I have just received a raven telling me that a hostile force has assaulted my garrison at Rosby.
"You are to march north with your men and re-take Rosby. If that is successful you are to press onto Duskendale and take that town as well. I will send a couple of observers with you to send regular progress reports back to me."
I wish you to move out straight away. Will that be suitable?"

Connington looked confused. "Your keep has been taken and you want -me- to retrieve it for you? What service are your men lending here, that are so essential?"

Jaehaerys stared at him.
"My lord Connington. Lord Blackwood has placed you under my command. You just told me that that your 'boys' are starting to get anxious, eager to see action I assume.
"Very well. You are to march north with your men and re-take Rosby. If that is successful you are to press onto Duskendale and take that town as well. Barclay's fleet has been put to flight at Duskendale by the Royal Fleet.
My men will be busy elsewhere securing the Crownlands."
"I would like you to move out at once."

Other lords of the Crownlands who have answered the call to arms by the Lord Paramount are also sending men in. Numbers are uncertain at this time.

"Very well", Connington said as he bowed and left camp. Immediately his host of 6,000 started their ride to Rosby, albeit a roundabout route to avoid any encounters on the way.
