Halwyn cleared his throat before reciting what he had obviously practiced saying numerous times. "Hendry says that for far too long the North has been disconnected from the South, and it is time that the North is retied with its neighbors to the south." Halwyn paused momentarily.
"He wishes to propose a marriage between our two houses."

The Castellan mulls over the northerner’s words, taking a long sip of wine. “In those words that is not an entirely unreasonable request,” Ambriet begins after a lengthy pause. “Is it your Hendry Dustin, himself, that is looking for a bride? House Piper does have several beautiful young girls, all of whom unbetrothed. I’m sure one our Lord Burqe’s lady cousins might charm your master.”
Leaning forward in his chair, Ambriet sets down his cup of wine. “Now what is your master Hendry prepared to offer Pinkmaiden if this arrangement is to be made?”

Halwyn Stayg nodded. "But let it be known that Hendry Dustin will soon be a Lord, and is fit for a true lady."
"A fruitful alliance between our houses, of course. Not to mention the Pipers would have prominent cousins in the North." Halwyn said, smiling.

"That is true... How fares master Hendry's father these days?" Ambriet inquires, politely casting his eyes down at the conspicuous question as he sips his wine.

"He is as well as you can be with brain problems. He isn't much with it at all these days, but he is healthy." Halwyn stated simply.

"I take your meaning, Halwyn," the Castellan says, nodding slowly.
"In any case, I suppose we should send a company of soldiers to escort you on your trip north... Why don't I send miss Monique Piper along with our men?" he continues, raising an eyebrow. "She does so love to travel. Mayhaps she can make master Hendry's acquittance once you arrive in Barrowton?"

Halwyn smiled but shook his head. "I am sorry but Hendry has things he must get done before whe can meet with a possible wife. It would be more convenient for him to stop here himself before he moves on to King's Landing in a few weeks."

"Your master is traveling to King's Landing?" Ambriet asked, canting his head to the side. "In that case, please, tell Hendry that he and his men must pay a visit to Pinkmaiden on their way. We shall have a feast prepared from the summer stocks for House Dustin."

Halwyn smiled. "Yes, although it could be some time before he arrives. I will make sure to tell you when he will be here so that you can prepare the feast. You honor us, Ser." Halwyn looked around the room.
"If this marriage works out, some other Piper cousins could possibly even get land in the North to start a branch of House Piper." Halwyn said, winking. "Of course, where they will get land from is a secret matter for now."

Either the promise of land is to no surprise of Ambriet, or he hid his interest well. In any case the castellan nodded his head with a pleasant smile dawning across his face. Whether or not Lord Burqe or any of the lesser cousins of House Piper would secure an heir was yet to be determined, it was always a possibility that in the event that they had not, the Lord of Pinkmaiden would choose to reward Ambriet Mollace and his family for years of dutiful service.
With the promise of lands for himself or for his sons (albeit northern land) in his mind, the castellan unsteadily climbed to his feet. “Well then, Halwyn, please alert us the moment your Hendry travels south. We’ll have food and quarters enough for all his men here at Pinkmaiden.”

Halwyn nodded. "Yes, of course. I have to leave now, but I thank you for your time." He said, as he walked out of the room.

Erik's host approaches from the Northwest, setting up camp out of bow range from the keep. Erik himself approaches the gate with a number of guards, and asks that Lord Piper come out to parlay.

Lord Burqe Piper rode out to meet Coldiron, with around two hundred and fifty horse.
"Lord Coldiron. I was wondering when it would be my turn."

"Turns out you were second on the list. I take it you've had correspondence with Smallwood?" Erik asks.

Piper shook his head, "I have not, but I can see their sigils with you, and I can interpret what that means."
