"You make out Callen to be a coward in the dark." Edmure answered, regaining his composure. "And yet the singers will make much of his actions for ages to come." Setting his grey eyes with those of Redwyne's he continued, "was it cowardice that made Callen ride to Casterly Rock? Was it cowardice that made him jump from the Red Keep? I don't know, but what I do know is that Callen has made more brave deeds in these past few years than many a man have in a lifetime. Under risk of death he has returned to Westeros, when he could have led a life of luxury as a guest of the rich in the Free Cities, to reclaim the throne that is his by rights. He fights for the kingdom his ancestors won through blood and fire. Trust me Redwyne, their will be war, I do not know when the time is not yet ripe, but when it starts Callen, the true Baratheon heir will have need of the united support of his family. He will have need of Andry and all those who have the Baratheon name. He will definately have need of you my lord."

"Then treat me with some respect, fool of a smuggler. When a baseborn like you walks with high lords, he must kiss ass, not ask for his own to be kissed." Continuing he called out as if from somewhere else, "And what is a 'right' mean to me, when I see character? I choose who I support lad, and don't be foolish with me anymore."

OOC: "he must kiss ass." ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) hahahaha. Edmure isn't necessarily a lad, he's 48 or so. IC: Edmure blew a sigh of relief, he could shrug off ridicule and insults, but not imputence or arrogance. "If your looking for character then look to your eldest nephew. He means to win his throne, and for that he needs you. He needs what you have to offer."

"You already said he wants to fight dishonorably, and that is something I cannot and will not support."

"Would you have Callen fight openly, even if it meant his death?" The question was an honest one, no spite or emotion in it, it was not meant to offend Lord Redwyne.

"One must live with honor to the best of their abilities and not just cheat death by cowardly attacking their foe."

"How would you have your king conduct his war?" Edmure asked, and although he spoke calmly on the inside he wanted nothing more than to strike the man.

"In the field, in the water, fighting to prove himself the better man. To attack from shadows would be a cowardly act."

"And if Callen does this will you support him?"

"What else would he do for the realm?"

Edmure thought about this for a moment, Callen was an honourable man, and a good person, but he had never gone into details on how he would run the realm he had not yet attained. "What would you have him do my lord?"

"If I had plenty of plans on how to lead a realm, I would be raising banners for myself... The only experience I have is being a Lord. That is very much different."

Edmure paused for a moment then continued, "they say that a captain is a king aboard his own ship, even if that's true, and I'm as good a royalty on the decks of my vessel, that doesn't mean I don't listen to my crew. I expect the same goes for true kings. Please my lord, give me your suggestions, your more learned in the ways of nobility than I am."

"To be perfectly truthful, I'm quite happy with the current systems."
