"May I ask Lady Lilith where your daughter is I thought you enjoyed bringing her with you on these trips." Ser Hulken rides close to Lilith with Crane just behind him. Lilith can't see it but he rides with one hand on his sword pommel.

The stable hand's horse seems tired and unable to keep up, and he falls behind the rest of the column. He pats his dusty sorrel and slouches, looking glum.

Ser Crane brightened at Hulken's words "Oh, you have children, Lady Lillith? I have 4 grandchildren myself. Wonderful aren't they! They keep me young and fit, I tell you!"
Noticing the stableboy, he motions for a few of his men to go and see what's wrong and help.

Hulken turns in the saddle and stares Crane right in the eye. Ser Crane is the first to look away.

"Both my daughters, you know that I have two now?, are with my Arryn kinsman in the Eyrie. As I knew working with the victims of the sky catastrophe was going to be a difficult trip I regretfully had to leave them behind."

When Crane's men come to ask him what's wrong, the stable hand looks a bit scared and teary-eyed, and just shakes his head and slouches again, his cheeks turning pink.

Ser Crane goes back to see the young lad. Spotting he's nearly in tears, he fumbles around for a linen handkerchief, handing it over. "There, there lad. What's the matter? We're not going to hurt you. You'll get to see Highgarden, the grandest most beautiful part of the Reach. Won't that be fun?" he beams, his face crinkling in a smile.

When Ser Crane then comes down as well to see what's wrong, a look flashes briefly across the stable hand's face. But then the look is gone and he gives a watery smile. "Thank you."
The dusty sorrel finds its feet, and trots up to pace beside Captain Reeves and Lady Bettley.

Ser Crane tries to bravely keep the peace "Now, now. There's no need for that, Ser Hulken. Come here, lad. What is your name? You remind me of my cousin, Ryam Crane. He was a right black sheep of the family. Hoo! The number of times I had to bail him out of trouble" he smiled broadly.
