"Lord Falgrave, we are of one mind in this situation are we not? Whatever comes out of this investigation, it must be the whole truth, and not a tale, regardless of who it puts in disfavor or under sentence of death?"

"We are." Seth said. "Now I'll make sure I am not too much of a lump to do my duty from now on. I will speak with you later, Francis."

"Good bye Seth." Francis sees the Lord Commander to the door, and than heads out shortly after.

OOC: I am presuming this occurs before Francis' departure for the Westerlands, since it should be a peaceful meeting.
"Ser Roland, I apologize for the inhospitable summons." Francis shooed the man away. He closed the door, and waited outside so that the two men were not disturbed.
"First, let me start with good news. You're an uncle!" Francis smiled widely, clearly pleased to be a father. "A little boy. We're naming him Cyrus. You can blame Anne that he's not named Roland."

Roland is taken by surprise, but his shocked expression soon passes for a broad smile. "Congratulations, you bastard! Er, sorry, you Lord Bastard Varner!"

Francis chuckled, "As you can see, the lady and I didn't leave any time to waste. I can't tell you what a relief it is to have an heir. I just wish I could see the little fellow. And your sister. We spent so little time together before I had to turn." Francis smile turned into a frown. "I fear the realm is in grave danger, and it may keep me from her and my child for some time."

Roland's smile dimmed also. "Yes, it is shocking that someone would try to murder Lord Reagent Bettley."

"Yes. Graver still the Lord Hand Horas Blackwood stands accused. Some in the small council already clamor for his dismissal. I have evidence which points both towards and away from the Lord Hand, but I am convinced he is an innoce... well innocent doesn't really describe Lord Horas. I'm convinced he didn't do this plot."

"I do not know the man, but know that the Lord Rhodri thinks well of him. These intrigues... Well, suffice to say, my life is simple in that I get to sink my blade into my opponents as they stand before me."

Francis nodded. "Let me see if I can explain it in your terms Ser Roland. I am scouting well ahead of the main force, and the signs tell me that big host is coming our way. I need to know that the man leading the vanguard will be able to hold until help arrives, no matter what comes out of the forest. Does that tell you were I am at?" Francis seemed nervous, and tired, as if he'd not slept in many days. "How many men does the Vale have in King's Landing?"

"Yes, Lord Varner. It is clear. I have just over 350 men in the city."

"Lord Bolton has been found guilty of conspiring against the Crown. In attempting to take him, a battle insued between the forces of the Crown and the Boltons. There may be war in the north. What part that plays in the whole conspiracy I know not, but I would suggest you speak with Lord Rhodri and convince him to prepare for a possible conflict. and if you can spare men for King's Landing, it may be wise as well. I will be heading to the Westerlands soon to meet with Lord Horas, secretly. If I do not return, you should turn to Lord Falgrave. He knows most of the specifics of the plot against the Realm, and seems a loyal man."

"I understand, Lord Varner. I will travel to the Vale and consult with the Lord Arryn, and tell him what you have told me."

"I would have you in King's Landing by choice, is there no one you could send to speak the case?"
