Aranya was watching the white buck too. "We'll follow him," she said. "Heel, Skag." The golden brindle hound obeyed, but his eyes were fixed on the buck. Aranya swung gracefully up into Captain Snow's saddle, and motioned for Aerie to mount up. Then she nudged the black stallion towards the buck.

The buck moves into a canter, traveling north.

Followed by Aerie on her horse, Aranya rode after the white buck. She barely had to signal to Captain Snow before he moved into a smooth canter, tailing the buck closely but never encroaching upon it. The hound bounded at Captain Snow's heels, eager to be on the hunt once more.

Aerie swung onto Anarchy, who flicked his ears towards the creature curiously and took eager steps after it. Aerie urged the courser into a canter, traveling beside Aranya and her black beast.

Eventually the woods clear, and Aranya and Aerie find themselves crossing the Blackwater Rush. The buck leads them onwards north, until eventually he stops short of Bethany's Weirwood, quiet and forlorn.

Aerie shot Aranya a quizzical look, thoroughly rimmed with doubt. She tugged her mount to a collected trot, unsure of what the stag meant to do.

Captain Snow bore Aranya forward, easily fording the river. The golden brindle hound was not a large dog, but he leaped into the water, quite enjoying himself, and paddled beside the great black courser. When he emerged on the other bank, he shook himself vigorously, spraying both Captain Snow and Anarchy with great showers of water.
Aranya barely noticed - Bethany's Weirwood drew her attention. Although she had planted some of Yohn's seeds in this forest, it was still a rare treat to see a weirwood. She dismounted and walked towards the tree, careful not to alarm the stag.

Aerie remained astride her horse, fiddling with her reins impatiently. There were things more important than weirwoods on her mind at the moment. She drew rein near the tree, waiting for whatever was supposed to happen to happen. Anarchy wrinkled his great red nose, his tail rising and hissing back downwards in a swift motion to signal his irritation at being thoroughly sprayed with water. Aerie patted his neck soothingly, throwing the dog an amused look.
Aerie wished the stag would do something interesting.

Captain Snow twitched irritably and flicked his tail, staring at the hound who shook water over him.

Aranya immediately noticed that there was a face in this tree. Someone had carved one. When she came up close to it, she felt a rushing, and was struck by a vision...
She saw a demon, a wild dog, death's child, a blackcloak, and a man with no head, all departing a forest, beyond reach.

Aranya's eyes seemed to go unfocused, as if she was looking deep within. She reached out and touched the smooth white bark of the trunk, her finger tracing the carved face that seemed to look into her.
"We will not find Kennos Keath on this hunt," Aranya said, in a voice that seemed to come from far away.

Aerie looked at her worriedly--she seemed dazed. "What do you mean? Where is he?"

"He's left the forest," Aranya said, stroking the the white buck as if it was a tame animal. It did not seem to mind. Aranya's eyes were clear again. "With four men, maybe more. I have a feeling he's gone further south, but even Skag can't hunt him that far. We'd lose the trail a dozen times." The mention of her hound made her frown. "A wild dog, a black cloak, Death's child and a headless man accompany Kennos Keath, the Demon." Aranya snorted at that last name. "Death's child makes me think of..." her eyes widened.

Aerie gave a growl of frustration. "Damn. I thought we would have him this time." She had little time to sulk, however. "Those are strange things you mention. Did they come in your...err..." She didn't want to say it outright. She observed the serene white stag. "They represent something?"
She tilted her head at Aranya, acid eyes narrowing. "Kid Death. Of course. Is that the celebrated friend of Rhodri's we are searching for?"

"Of course they do," Aranya said, crossing over to Captain Snow. "Kid Death. The Demon. Kit Kidwell rides with Kennos Keath - though I find it hard to believe that it's voluntary, even if Kidwell has broken oaths before." She climbed lightly into the saddle, turning the great courser around. "As for the wild dog, the blackcloak, the headless man...I couldn't see any of them clearly."
"The black cloak could symbolize a traitor, like the Reachmen. Or Erik Tyrell, he of the white cloak." Aranya snorted. "Though I have no idea where on earth that one disappeared to."
