Several days ride from King's Landing, Duskendale is one of the larger towns of Westeros. The fortress and seat of the ruling House is the Dun Fort. Originally the seat of House Darklyn, and then House Rykker, Duskendale was granted to Selwyn and Aranya Royce after the second War of Dragon and Stag. The town has its own harbor, and is becoming a large port.

Auron entered the town, looking around. "So, this is Duskendale, it's a pretty nice town. Now, where is an inn...." Auron mumbled, walking further down the street. He found an inn, and rented a room to put his stuff in. He then left the inn, walking down the street in the direction of Dun Fort. "I can't wait for the tourny,"he said, "I really want to win some competitions!"

Duskendale is a large town, with many excellent inns. Since Lady Aranya has not returned, the Dun Fort is closed. But a handsome inn by the port, which serves fresh seafood everyday, looks inviting to Ser Auron. It's called Darklyn's Head.

Auron notices an inn called Darklyn's head, and decides to check in there. He was very fond of seafood, but didn't come across it very often.

Aranya and her company rode through the gates of Duskendale, the children's wheelhouse and the wagons trundling behind. There was a chilly breeze coming from the Sea of Dorne. Duskendale was built around a harbor that was flanked by chalk cliffs to the north and a rocky headland to the south. In the distance she could see the Dun Fort. The castle overlooked the port, a large square keep with tall drum towers.
In the Darklyn's Head and the Seven Swords, the largest inns in town, knights had already arrived for the local tournament.

Roland blinked, "...boats? I've never been, milady. Are they safe?"

"That's like asking if riding is safe," Aranya laughed. "It is, if you're not a fool, and you're not in a storm." She pointed out into the harbor, where dozens upon dozens of ships were docked, or setting sail. Among them were the five dromonds the King had gifted to her. "When I was in exile, I learned to sail on a sloop. It's dangerous and difficult, but rather fun."

Ridiculously, Roland still looked a little incredulous. "Did you ever leave sight of land?" This knight did not fear riding, or riding into the clans, but water seemed something of a bogey to him.

"You sound like a boy who hasn't been weaned off his wetnurse. The sloop we traveled on, The Stranger, sailed the open seas. We had to, because Callen was being hunted. We sailed as far as the Jade Sea, and saw Asshai and Yi Ti."

Roland, looked like he'd been slapped. "If the ocean is what unmans me, then it is the ocean I must be willing to conquer." He then stared out over the water, "It is a wide world, isn't it. If one is to see it, one must conquer the ocean in any case."

"Conquer the ocean, aye, and then conquer the pirates and sellsails," Aranya smiled. "There is indeed much too see. I still remember it all. The Titan of Braavos, the pleasure houses of Lys, the fighting pits of Ghis...there are many wonders to be seen. The only sea our ship could not take us to was the Dothraki sea. I wish I had seen that."

Roland smiled, "The Dothraki sea is more the type I'm used to, as far as I know."

Aranya eyed his horse. "How well can you ride, boy?"

Roland patted his courser on the neck, "I believe I can hold my own, milady."

Aranya grinned at him, her eyes sparkling. Her ferocious black courser moved when she nudged him. "Want to race, coz? Captain Snow has never been outrun."
