I thougt in Jousting you only rode three times a round? Yet we've seen some matches here lasting much longer? It doesent have to end with someone being unhorsed. It's about points and the lance-tip breaking on the target or not. To my understanding anyway *Shrug*

In the King's Landing tourney in AGoT, there was a three run maximum and then the King decided who won, but that wasn't the way in every tourney. Might be a good idea for that to be the practice for our tourneys though, less rolls for the admins and less deaths.

You know, that is a good point. I had forgotten that they only rode for three tilts.

I figured they did things differently in Westeros. But hey, whoever runs the next tourney, do be sure to run it 'Knights Tale' style.

Knight's Tale is inaccurate because it has the Joust as the main event. At a tourney the joust was never the main event, the melee was almost always. Something to think about.

I assumed the Joust was the main event. Seems more KNightly and all that the the Melee. It's the main event in Westeros anyway.

Actually, it's the secondary event in Westeros. The melee takes place last, as the main event, for it was more accessible by the commoners, who would need knight training to be able to Joust.
This is evident throughout the books. The only time it isn't the main event I believe is in the Hedge KNight.

Well, I was meaning the Joust is the more glorified, bigger deal event.

The other issue is that the melee was considered r a kind of training, while jousting was more... sport related. I believe Jousting developed later than Melees but I'm not sure.
edited: typos so i don't look as stupid as i am.
