perhaps it would make sense, if two weapons gave a very small plus. (+5), but a shield gave some sort of advantage as well? (-10 to opponent, on a successful shield roll or something?) alot of people have shield, but it doesn't do anything.

The skill system right now is pretty vague in general. A lot of skills don't seem to have any effect.

Though I'm not in this fight. I really like Varner's idea the slight two weapon bonus and the shield bonus would balance out the fighting. And it would make getting proficient in shield useful.

Another way to go about it is, depending on your level with a shield it requires a higher difference in points for an opponent to get a hit. To put it in english:
JP: Master Sword
LT: Noteworthy Sword, Master Shield
JP 150
LT 140
As JP goes in for a blow LT easily blocks it with his shield.

So if you're master at shield, for example there has to be at least a 10 point difference to land a blow, or however else you want to change it.

All that thinking just burnt out my head so I can't think of a decent dual weapon system. Perhaps just +5 or something simple like that.

But thats difficult for someone like me with Tallahar who fights with Sword Shield but doesn't have a shield stat because I never thought I had to. This is the same as jousting.

If you've got a high Jousting skill you'd probably have reasonable shielding skill, at least from horseback fighting.

You do make a good point Tallahar. This is on the same basis as the jousting skill. I haven't had either of my characters use shields, so I didn't think of that.
