The Hightower line is most definitely not finished just because Robert died. An ancient and powerful family like that would have no end of heirs.

Yeah. Though once things fall this far, it starts to get messy and lords have been known to reassign. Particularly if the next heir already holds somewhere.

There would still be plenty of people with the Hightower name though. Like Crake said, there would be cadet branches who had their own holdings, and they would probably all be pretty aware of who had the better claim.
