Are there still only three castles on the wall manned or have the Night Watch had more numbers that they can spread to others.

Most of the castles are currently run. I have to ask why. I thought the reason they were all abandoned was because there was not a threat from the other side in centuries. I assume since the Other's never came that would have continued. Did something happen that suddenely cause the Night Watch to be seriously enlarged? Just curious.

Just the Iron Throne rebuilding the watch and attempting to return it to its former glory, should they be attacked.

Okay, I've returned from the wilderness. Could anyone post somekind of story about what is going on. I'm pretty lost, but it looks like that everybody is heading to wall for some reason and Callen has arrived at summerhall and is doing -something- in there?
I could find all this information by myself, but I would be a loooong job. (18 pages written to the feast for example when I was offline!)

Key components:
1) Aemon Targaryen is the King on the Iron Throne. Lord Baldwin Lannister has been made hand, replacing Lord Breyn Royce (mainly because Breyn hasn't posted in a long time rather than a roleplaying gambit by Baldwin).
2) There was a tourney at Casterly Rock. There were a couple murders, still officially unsolved, and Ser Addam Tyrell, Ser Donal's son, was accidently killed in the joust.
3) The Hand has asked several lords to take an army of about 10,000 men to reinforce the Night's Watch against a threat by the Wildling King, Hallise the Burned. Lord Rindwynd Tyrell commands, but Lord Rhodri Royce, Ser Donal Tyrell, Ser Robert Royce, Lord Jayson Plumm have all led contingents (not sure if there are Riverlanders).
4) Callen Baratheon, the 'rightful' King deposed by the new Targaryen dynasty is currently in the Stormlands attempting to find support for his bid for the throne. His second, Edmure Seaworth, is on the Arbor trying to convince Lord Redwyne to support Callen.
+ plus many myriad subplots.

Recent stuff includes:
1)The tourney of casterly rock came to an uneven end when the heir to the king died
2)Lord Baldwin Lannister is the new hand
3)The king has sent a force north to deal with Hallise the KIng beyond the wall. INcluding many of our players
4)The stuff with Callen is happening underneath the surface and no one but him and a select few know what is going on, but what some people do know is that Callen is back, and may be gathering forces to himself.

4)The stuff with Callen is happening underneath the surface and no one but him and a select few know what is going on, but what some people do know is that Callen is back, and may be gathering forces to himself. Good point. For the new guy, in case you don't know, we're playing in an "alternate future" for Westeros, where the Lannister twincest was revealed during King Robert's life and Edric Storm was legitimized to continue Baratheon rule. So the events of the book post-halfway through AGOT never really happened, and we are playing a few generations down the line. Lannisters, Tyrells, Starks and Martells are all essentially in the same places they were before (except the Martells have negotiated greater independence from the new Targaryen kings). Royce has replaced the now extinct House Arryn as Lords of the Vale, and more recently Blackwood has replaced Tully in the Riverlands (due to Tully supporting the Baratheons against the Targaryens in the new, recent civil war). Dondarrion has replaced Baratheon as Paramount in the Stormlands, though my character, Rhodri Royce, was given Storm's End as reward for his service in the Rebellion.

He was never a Ser (he was just a 14yr boy who thought Kid Death trained him better than he really had!) but bless you for thinking so ;D
