Rhodri chuckles. "We are born of the First Men, but yes, most of my kin worship the Seven. But we have not forgotten our legacy and tend our Godswood carefully. While as a youth I said the vows of knighthood, I would not today -- today, I only worship the Old Gods."
"As to your Lord Father, I know the King intended his release. I would suggest he be made Warden of the West, but that is for the King to choose."

Warren's tone is noticably warmer after Rhodri confides his faith in the Old Gods. "Well, Redroyce," Warren smiles, not seeming to realize that it is Rhodri Arryn now, "I can send men to show you Raventree Hall. You are welcome to worship for as long as you like, though I think I should stay here to organize the Bracken surrender and meet these Dornish."

"That would be best, Ser Galwyn can stay to represent me, and Ser Miles in place of the King. Has Lord Horas of the Small Council informed you of our arrangement, between our houses?" Rhodri asks.

"He has. I understand our Taria is to marry Lord Jon? I approve of the match," Warren says.

"That is it. Lord Jon has gone to King's Landing to swear fealty. I thought we could send Taria Blackwood to the capital under an honor guard of both knights of the Vale and men of Blackwood, it would be dignified. I would suggest the ceremony happen in the Godswood to honor both our traditions."

Warren nods. "That sounds like a good plan."
A smaller red haired man approaches. He appears lowborn, and seems to be some sort of minor captain in the Blackwood guard. "Begging your pardons, m'lords, but we're ready to head back to Raventree. Whenever you're ready, Lord Arryn."

"Excellent. I will reconnect with you and my men shortly. Lord Dominic Grafton will arrive shortly with the bulk of my foot. Dom the Sharp has nearly as great a reputation as your Lord Father," Rhodri says with a smile, and departs with the captain.

As dusk fell, the Dornish soldiers arrived within sight of the Blackwood encampment, and a small detachment of riders led by the Stone Hawk rode to the parley grounds. The Stone Hawk pulled up his horse, looking around for the Blackwood commander.

"Hail, Dornishman," Warren calls out, "I am Warren Blackwood, commander of the Blackwoods here. What is your name, and how many men have you brought?"
Warren urges his horse over to meet the newcomer.

"I am Lord Quentin Fowler," responded the tight-lipped commander. "You may know me better as "the Stone Hawk." I bring ten thousand men under arms." He looked over the field's banners, then back at Warren.
"That's odd. The Princess told me that there'd be lions standing with you as well. Have the Westermen not arrived yet?"

Many Vale banners are present, and Dom the Sharp, the famed general from Gulltown, stands nearby Master* Warren.
*A title used in ASOAIF to denote commanders who do not have a "Ser" and are not Lords. Applied to one of the Glover brothers, for example.

A frown creases Warren's brow. "My scouts tell me Lord Steffen has a small force near Riverrun, though we have not been coordinating our efforts with him. The Lannisters hate the Greyjoys as much as we do, but with this Allard insisting on calling himself king... the situation is complicated."

Quentin shook his head. "More silly games. Far as I can tell, the Princess doesn't care who's king of where, she just wants the Ironborn dead." After a moment, he continued. "Do we know where the ironborn are, then?"

"Aye," Warren agrees, "politics." He says the word like a curse. "The ironborn are fleeing, by all accounts. We just secured the surrender of the Brackens, the last of the riverlords to resist us. Hopefully the Redwyne fleet will arrive quickly, so we can give chase and crush the ironborn."

"Indeed," said Quentin with the first hint of a smile on his face. "Looks like I'm fashionably late then, unless there's room on the ships for my force as well.
