"Doubt we need to make the trebuchets," Brandon said as he made to follow Brynden. "Lord Corbray do you want to join us for the preperations?" he said as he halted.

Roose's eyes furrowed in disbeliefe, "You ate him? Then who the hell leads you all?" "I do." The man laughed, "Why the hell you think I am out here. If you and your craven lot want to surrender, we will go home right now, otherwise we have to fight. If you win, your side wins and we go home. If I win, my side wins, and then we go home. let's get this over with laddie. I am too drunk to talk, I need to kill something."

Roose looked to Roland, with an upraised eyebrow, as if to ask Well?

Roland looked at the Iron Born, "So after Combat either way you will surrender?"
The Iron born smiled and laughed, "We ain't never gonna give up, but we sure as hell will go home. The fuckers who wanted to take up farming are dead, only the stone fuckers are left in that keep. And we are done fucking your weak woman. We need some iron wombs for our iron seed." He spits a long dark streak into the grass.
Roland looked to Tyrell and Stark, "One death instead of hundreds seems acceptable no matter whose it is."

Lord Dondarrion joins the company of the other generals at Harrenhal, entering their midst dressed in black furs and a violet scarf. He recognizes Lord Royce talking with an Ironborn whom he does not know. Just within hearing range he listens in on the conversation while nodding to the other Lords in attendance.

Brynden and the others came to find Roland outside with Roose, and heard the ironborn's words. "If he's so eager to leave Harrenhal, then why does he even want single combat?" Brynden asked Roland and Roose.
He looked at the reaver. "If you are as sick of our lands, as you claim, then pack up and leave now. You'll be given safe passage provided you don't harass anyone along the way, though the gods know that I am loathe to let you traitors leave Harrenhal safely. If you don't surrender the castle today, then we will ram down your gates and scale your walls, and kill you all. You've seen our numbers. I don't care to see you fight a loyal high lord for sport, and single combat is unecessary and irrelevant."

Without taking his eyes away from the man Roose said, "The man wants to leave with the memory of a fight...and they're surrendering either way...I can respect that."
Studying him with his grey eyes Roose continued, "I'll fight him."

Roland set his jaw firm and looked at Roose for a while, "If that is your wish, Lord Stark". Denying him would do no good he realised.
"Singel combat spares the lives of a great many people, Brynden".

Dismounting, Roose felt his pulse quicken. Drawing Ice from his saddle he turned, and unclipped his large cloak, letting the grey wool fall the ground. In his head he could picture the fight, feel the motions of the Valyrian Steel in his hands.
Turning to face the drunk Ironborn he said, "On your guard..."
