Aranya drew her sword, and offered it to him hilt first. "Do you want to do it?"

"We may want to keep him for now. Rhodri may have further questions for him -- let us deliver him into his hands, he'll find the executioner's axe soon enough."

"I don't think he has anything left to tell us, but I'm not concerned with it now. We need to go find Brynden."

"Aye, let's be off. We'll take a strong company of guards, just in case, and this cur to deliver into Rhodri's hand..." Selwyn says.

Aranya came back with both hers and Selwyn's things packed. She carried them out and saddled both their horses. "Hopefully we'll deliver more than just Hammen to the executioner's axe."

Months after his disappearance, young Yohn -- approaching his ninth naming day -- wanders nonchalantly back into Harrenhal. He somehow convinces a group of his father's knights to escort him east, and they are shortly on horses making for the Bloody Gate and the Vale beyond.

After hard riding, Aranya, Perra and Fallon rode through the gates of Harrenhal, Aranya looking up at the great castle with a pang. The last two or three times she was here, Selwyn had always been with her. And she had come with Becca and Piers, and Rhodri had been with them when they had been ambushed...
And now here she was, with Lance Sands' son. It made her angry.
The maester told her that he'd received word that Lady Martina had arranged the betrothal as Aranya had instructed, and that Brynden and Lady Martina were with Lord Piers and Lady Lilith. Aranya nodded, bathed and fell asleep with the baby in her arms.

A long column of men approaches Harrenhal, flying the banners of house Blackwood. At the head of a line rides a man and a woman. Both are rather elderly, and the man looks half asleep.
A herald calls out whoever holds the castle to come out to meet with Master Brill Blackwood and his wife, the Lady Mara.

The castle is flying the great banners of House Baratheon.
The Defenders welcome Master Blackwood in. The commander is Ser Pencival Donniger.

Brill Blackwood makes a hrrmphing sound in his throat. "Yes, yes, Ser Donginner, very very good. My nephew, the Lord Paramount of the Trident, has ordered me to occupy Harrenhal for the time being. Good day, good ser."
Lady Mara smiles, wrinkles crinkling about her eyes. "We have only the utmost gratitude for the King and the Hand for liberating Harrenhal, but with the war long over, it is time Riverland castles fell back into Riverland hands. I'm sure you understand, dear."

"Harrenhal is the property of the King, Callen Baratheon, and his kin. It was the last stronghold of his family during the War of Stag and Dragon, and the site of many of their deaths. We must respect this as holy ground."
"We hold this keep under his orders. If the garrison is to change, it must be done with his seal," Ser Pencival says.

Brill splutters magnificently, not making much sense, but drenching Ser Pencival with spit. The words "Lord Paramount", "Riverlands", and "Callen Schmallen" can clearly be heard.
Once he has finished, Lady Mara smiles and pats Ser Pencival on the arm. "I'm sorry, dear, you must have misunderstood us. As part of the Riverlands, Harrenhal owes its fealty to house Blackwood before any others. I'm afraid we weren't requesting you to leave, we were ordering you to do so."

"Mi'lady, that is not true. As direct property of the Crown, this castle only owes fealty to King Callen Baratheon. However, we will gladly leave if presented with his orders that his castle is to be regarrisoned. This is a haunted keep, and we look forward to the day we depart. But it is not ours to decide such things; only the King's," Ser Pencival replies.

"Then I suggest you petition that to the king, Ser Pencival," Lady Mara says, "Because my husband's men will be garrisoning this castle now, and they have quite a few pointy sticks if you try to stop them." Mara smiles innocently.
"Quite right, quite right, quite right," Brill says.
