OOC: I find it really ironic that all this is happening. Mainly because Aemon is not a bad King, in fact he's pretty good. The reason given in the most recent scenario made me laugh: the King gave -more- rewards to the Lannisters. Sure he did, the Lannisters got owned many more times than the Royces did.

OOC: If there wasn't a Callen character, it wouldn't be. But the story is driven by the people taking part in the game, so that's how it goes.

OOC: People don't actually not like Aemon, they don't like Maerys, and Aemon looks bad by association. Callen actually has a pretty good reason to rebel (the Targaryens want his head on a pike), but Aemon just seems kind of distant as a king. Nobody see's much of him.
OOC part deux: This is after the scenario
IC: "I know Rhodri is Selwyn's brother, but that doesn't make him any less a traitor. Rhodri has fought against me from the moment Dondarrion betrayed my father's trust." Ignoring Aranya Callen got up and slipped his tunic on. Purposelly ignoring her eyes he opened the door, and without looking back he said, "if you'll excuse me my lady I need to go speak to Captain Snow."

OOC: That's not quite true. Breyn was behind the rebellion as early as Rhodri and Baldwin were -- all three were on board before anything happened. But Callen may be ignorant of the historical details.
IC: Captain Snow remains outside with his men.
OOC: I'm probably going to be offline for a while.

OOC: Of course, with Selwyn Stone there you have someone in your presence who knows all of the historical details.

OOC: I modified the last post, sorry for the slip up. Don't get me wrong, I actually really like Rhodri. He's an awesome character. There's just something appealing about having Callen hate him so much.
IC: "Captain Snow," Callen walked down into the yard, purposely trying to avoid calling Selwyn by his real name, "may I have a word, and it's ok, it's nothing that can't be said here in front of your men."

OOC: No problem, Callen has the right to hate a man who toppled his father and took his ancestral home. And if things go well or go badly for Rhodri it will give me material to roleplay with. Naturally, I want him to succeed, but I need to do it within what I think is in his nature. We'll see how that plays into things with Callen. Rhodri may end up doing some very Ned Stark too-much-honor-for-his-own-good-gets-him-killed sorts of things, but we'll see. I can see things going in many different directions, all of them interesting. IC: "Yes, yo-. Ser." Snow catches himself before calling Callen "your grace" in front of his men, who do not know Callen's identity.

Callen held out a roll of parchment to Snow. "Those are the first of the laws I plan to introduce. I believe they should address most of the issues you told me about."
It read: These laws apply to all those in the Seven Kingdoms. They are to be upheld by all men, noble or common, rich or poor. Any breach of them is to punished with swift and sure justice.
1. All lords big or small, are charged with defending those under their rule. 2. On any lords council at least on member must represent the smallfolk. Said person shall be selected by the smallfolk and not appointed by any other party. 3. Any grievences by the smallfolk will be heard and addressed as soon as possible. 4. In times of war or distress, and act of needless destruction against the smallfolk is punishable by death. 5. The Blackshields are hearby a legitamite group, established for the protection of the smallfolk.
This decree is legitamite from henceforth, signed by Ser Hodrick Royce and King Callen Baratheon, the first of his name, king of the First Men, the Andals, and the Rhoynar in the month of June, 511 AC.
Callen gave Snow a wry smile, "how's that for you? Oh, and don't worry about hiding my identity anymore, it's important that the people know that a Storm King rides again," he gave a laugh, "just don't tell the Targaryens where I am, just let them know that I'm out there."

OOC: I understand the gist of what you're trying to do, but it's not very practicle. Stag Snow hadn't been looking for Callen -- he wound up there by a series of coincedences (that I manipulated, it's true, but whatever). He had been separated from most of his band near the Rose Road, and found himself upstream on the Blue Bym in Grassy Vale. The Lord of Grassy Vale asked him to check on Summerhall, his southern neighbor, so there he was. Story-wise, he's been there about a day, not enough time to get any word to other Black Shields. I think it would be a better fit if Flowers, or a brother of Flowers, had been one of the 10 Black Shields already with Skag Snow (I had only named three in character so far).

"Gentleman of the Black Shields, I present to you our legitimate Lord of Westeros: King Callen, First of His Name."
"We shall spread word of his coming to the people, and the false lords shall quake."

ooc: Anselm has a pretty specific backstory so I want him to stay as a character joining the throng. Was going to give him more time to find y'all but I couldn't resist Callen's stirring speech. Hmm, I think I'll edit the above and make him find a leaflet.

Anselm Flowers, second son, of Arguel Flowers--one of the founders of the Blackshields--wasn't sure how he would find Callen. He decided to start by contacting the Black Shields he knew throughout the country. He didn't have much luck until he happened upon one reading a proclamation from King Callen himself. .
Anselm stood at the back of the crowd drinking in every word echoing through the town square. His eyes shone at the laws that were being presented. His father might be a Ser these days, but he had grown up as one of the smallfolk, the son of a greengrocer. The rights of lords and kings made little sense to him but the rights of ordinary people resonated deep within his soul.
He knew he had to kneel before King Callen and pledge his life and his sword to his cause and the cause of smallfolk everywhere.
After the crowd thinned, he went and introduced himself to the Black Shield reading the proclamation. He knew him by sight when he'd come to meet with his father. He was suspicious at first, but after looking at him for a while nodded his head.
"You have the look of your father."
The Black Shield had no information on Callen's where abouts but let Anselm know that he had received the proclamation from the next town over. Anselm set out the next morning.

Callen waved Snow goodbye and left to return to the keep. He tried to avoid Aranya as much as possible. He didn't feel like getting into another row over Rhodri. He had made up his mind, and had sentenced the Redroyce to death. As he shaved his head and coloured his goatee he looked out the window of the tower. His face softened as his eyes drifted around the beautiful castle, and the surrounding valley. It's almost time to leave, it's too dangerous to stay here for long...but gods I love this place, thought Callen. It's time to head north, time to rouse the Reach and Stormlords.

Three days and three villages later, Anselm met an elderly Black Shield who seemed to know much more than he was saying. He merely nodded after Anselm told of wanting to pledge his sword to Callen.
The man sent a raven to Summerhall "We have with us a son of Arguel Flowers, founder of the Black Shields. He seems earnest and has travelled far. May we send him to you?"
