OOC: I'm likely heading out soon, so there won't be more updates for at least a few more hours (sorry!)

"Aye, but I knew he'd never risk a ride against Kid Death." Rhodri chuckles. "But you speak the truth -- we'll see his worth soon enough."

Daena laughed at that. "I am sure Steffen has his reasons for choosing Ser Giles. He did not want to take part, but now you have goaded him into it, i doubt he will let himself be made to look a fool." She smiled again at Emelia. " We can hope of course."

"Indeed," responded the Princess, turning to consider the field. "I wonder when Elester will take the field. He's one of the few men on that field with a good chance against Kid Death, and he's brash enough to challenge him. Might teach him a lesson in humility...or bring glory to his name. Either's fine." She leaned back in the unaccustomed chair.

OOC: I'm just about to go out the door, can we say the Stormlands rained it out or something? Sorry

(Indeed. It'll give Elester a chance to line up. Not everyone's on at once. ^_^)

While the jousters break for a midday snack, the audience can judge who is still champion, and who has lined up as challenger.
The current champions are:
Ser Brandon Buckler, the Stormshield; Ser Tomas Clegane, the Dog of Lannisport; Ser Giles Grandison, the Waking Lion; Lord Betram Selmy Ser Kit Kidwell, Kid Death
The current challengers are: Alliser Redmont, Ward of Runestone, challenged Buckler Ser Robert Royce, challenged Clegane Tommen Redmont, Ward of Runestone, challenged Grandison Garrett Redmont, Ward of Runestone, challenged Selmy
and Ser Steffen Lannister has challenged Grandison, pending Ser Giles' prior challenge.
Many other knights are milling about awaiting their opportunity.

Elane smirked as young Ser Alliser rode to the end of the lists to face Buckler. "My cousin is so eager for glory," she told Rhodri. "I think he's anxious to prove that all Redforts aren't like my mother." Leaning over, she sees the Princess of Dorne, arm-in-arm with a slender ebon-skinned woman. Bowing her head, she says, "Well met, Princess Emelia. I don't think we've had a chance to meet until now. How do you find the tourney so far?"

Tommen and Garrett Redfort took their lances from squires, while Ser Robert mounted up to face Ser Tomas.

"I wonder how Nuncle Robert shall fair. He was always a good rider, and fought well as a young man. But Clegane is at least a dozen years the younger, and a veteran of the War of Stag and Dragon."
"I hope he does well and wins honor for the Royce name. I am sorry his son, Ser Jon, is not here -- I have not seen him in so long."

"Nuncle made Jon all he was, and he's fought in a good number of tourneys. He should acquit himself well." Indeed, Ser Robert looked very much at ease in his saddle, although a bit stern. "I haven't seen Jon since the war either. Nor Aranya," For a brief moment, Elane couldn't hide the sadness and worry in her eyes.

"Ahh, Aranya. I still blame her for Selwyn. After she was gone, he was despondent. I've not seen him for three years now, since he fled King's Landing to find her. He fled with a wineskin in hand, so where he went I've no idea."
"I live far from most of my family now, but Selwyn and I, we were close, and I miss him most of all."

Elane was surprised to hear Selwyn had been so affected. "Aranya's mother, Lady Alyssa Hunter, died from grief and intense anxiety last year. I've put out a network of spies, but I can't find her. Come to think of it, I haven't seen Selwyn since..." she frowned, "Why, since we left the Battle of Casterly Rock! Selwyn left to find Aranya? He must have liked her more than he let on." Elane saw the look on Rhodri's face. "He hasn't been talking to you very much?" she asked gently.
