The sand dunes surrounding Sandstone softened the devastation caused by the impact somewhat, though a large plume of sand was thrown up, causing day to become dusk. The grit thrown up by the blast can still be felt and tasted in most food and water supplies although this is an irritant rather than cause for major concern. Sandstone itself has suffered a few collapsed buildings, many more damaged to some degree but has escaped relatively lightly with only a hundred or so reported fatalities in the town.

Soon the soldiers of House Qorgyle were galloping out towards the site of the crater. As they neared the scene they passed many crumpled farms and weeping and wailing peasants unsure what has occurred. The damage is proportionately greater, the closer in they go. The guards pull up long before they reach the crater itself as the sand around it appears to have been liquified in some way turning the road into treacherous quicksand. They ride back to report to Lord Gwayne Qorgyle.
