A lavishly-furnished room where Aerie is being held after her arrest.

The lock clicked open, startling Aerie out of her doze, and Emelia Martell walked into the room, flanked by two guards in Martell livery.
"Aerie," she said pleasantly. "How good of you to visit Sunspear at last." Surprisingly, there was no malice hidden in her tone...which, of course, made Aerie even more suspicious of the Princess.

“Well, your men practically carried me here,” she said in a clearly false cheery tone, acid eyes surveying the woman mistrustfully.

Emelia laughed. "Well, look on the bright side, you got the grand tour of Dorne."
Her face turned serious. "You are aware, of course, that what you have done makes you an accomplice to high treason against Dorne?"

“Oh yes, it was exactly the type of tour I had in mind,” she retorted dryly, tossing back her hair in anger.
“I did no such thing. I have done nothing even remotely treasonous, and I would like to see you present evidence to the contrary.” Aerie stared at her heatedly, refusing to edge away from the precipice.

Emelia shrugged. "You misunderstand, Aerie. -You- are not being charged with treason. Ser Auron is. You are being charged with being his accomplice."
She looked at Aerie. "The starmetal is the property of the Crown, Aerie. You knew that fact, and when you saw my riders, you tried to flee with it."

“I did. I had no desire to be interrogated by your men. Ser Auron happens to be a lunatic, from the little I’ve gathered of him, and I have not lifted a finger to help him gather your precocious ore. So where is my association in treason in that?”

Emelia looked at Aerie flatly. "Aerie, I see I am still being unclear. This is not a trial. As far as I'm concerned, you are guilty, and this is not the Six Kingdoms. My word, unlike Callen's, has the force of absolute law. So I'd rather not waste time discussing little points of law when you fled officers of the Crown...itself an offense."
She looked into Aerie's eyes. "That merely leaves the question of what I am to do with you."

Aerie looked at Emelia in loathing, her hands curling into incensed fists. “How very convenient for you. And here I thought my Dornish host would be a little more hospitable. What will you do me then, feed me to your snake pit?”

Emelia shrugged. "I don't think so, Aerie, though your companion Seth might." She placed a finger to her lips.
"Aerie, I am certain you are well aware of my proclivities. If I were to offer your companion in this enterprise complete and unconditional release from the guilt of his crimes..." she began, looking directly at Aerie.
"Would you come to my bed in exchange?" Her guards exchanged glances.

Aerie let out a single disbelieving bark of laughter, but her humor flickered in uncertainty. "You cannot be serious."

Emelia looked at Aerie. "Is that a no, then?" she asked. "You're right, I wasn't. I wanted to see how loyal you were to your companion."
She looked at her with a calm smile. "Now, about your punishment. I believe the normal punishment for stealing from me would be the headsman, but I'm a merciful woman. Still, I believe you will need to lose something, to remind you that you cannot simply do as you will."
She smiled. "Your blade will be forfeit."

Aerie’s mind went strangely numb and she stared blankly at the conniving woman who stood before her. “No,” she managed, terse but firm in its vehemence. “I don’t think so.” The feeling began to seep back into her face. “I have done nothing wrong, so there is no need for punishment. How could I be running from arrest when I had done nothing to be arrested for? This is ridiculous and you know it!”

Emelia looked at Aerie. "Aerie, you were seen conversing with Seth and Auron. Seth was seen holding starmetal, and putting it into his saddlebag. Auron admitted that he sought to steal the starmetal. If you weren't poaching starmetal, why did you flee from Lucian?" she asked.
Emelia looked at Aerie, waiting for an answer.

“You never found any starmetal on Seth, so you have no case against him,” she stated levelly as if Emelia was an especially slow child in need of more careful instruction. “And what would you expect travelers who came upon such a phenomenon to do? It was only natural for us to investigate the site. We poached nothing, though I speak only for myself and Seth. I didn’t even talk to the man.”
She sighed when the woman latched onto the subject of Aerie’s flight. “I had no intention of being ridden down by a horde of uncouth soldiers. One of your sweet men seemed sorely disappointed that he couldn’t have me on the spot. I don’t think that would sit well me. So I left. I had every right to, never thinking that you would label the act as evading arrest.”
