Amdle, good son the Seven that he was, was profoundly uncomfortable with Ser Donal's new banner. The flaming heart spoke of other, more dangerous allegiances. But it was obviously part of something larger, something that had snapped him out his dark depression after the death of his son, so he hoisted the flag and rode with it flapping bravely in the wind. He was of the soft south but now he would try his mettle in the cold, hard north. He smiled to himself at the thought.

Garrett mounted up and rode gladly towards the Rose Road. He had never been north of the Vale, and the prospect of fighting wildlings gave him a fierce thrill. At last, something to fight for.

Lord Robert was mindful about this adventure Tallahar had always told him to keep a level mind in combat and what Donal was doing was certainly not thought out properly, well Tallahar had told him to trust in Donal so i will do what is asked of me i will not rebel like my father, Robert says as he slams his fist down on his calf frightening his mare Flame. "Easy girl its o.k"
Turning his head to see Garrett "Please tell Garrett were you to inherent lands in the Vale"

"No," Ser Garrett answered. "I don't care for lands and offices really."

Donal rode at the head of his men. We were making good time for such a large force and had just passed Silverhill. In the far distance I could see the smoke and towers of Lannisport. I was, however, giving them a wide berth. I had no desire to visit the site of my son's death now or ever again so the column veered east towards Stoney Sept. The smallfolk were full of the news from King's Landing of the death of the heir but I had other plans and considerations. I doubted that I would even be missed at the funeral - and even if I were it would likely be thought that I was bereft and mourning at home myself.
With most of the major lords & ladies away in Kings Landing, we were able to travel unchallenged or much remarked. The smallfolk, though curious, knew better than to attempt to bar our way.
Donal looked to the north - soon enough they would be in the Riverlands.

Thorn Hill came into view as the large party of warriors and wagons came up the hill, Ser Garrett and Ser Eddard in the lead. To the east they had an excellent view of Oldtown - from this distance, you really had to look hard to make out the wreckage. It still looked beautiful.
Garrett noticed little of it. His eyes were on the high walls of the handsome little keep, behind which he knew was Addam's grave. Ser Eddard blew a horn as they approached, raising the banner of the black rose, and the massive, elaborate gates opened for them.

Ser Garrett sent Amdle Flowers into Oldtown to fetch a septon and the silent sisters. An aged septon of the ancient Starry Sept answered Garrett's summons, and shook his head sorrowfully when he saw Ser Donal's body. "Father and son dead together," he said heavily. "These are sad times."

The silent sisters betrayed no such emotion. Ser Garrett ordered them to prepare Ser Donal's body for burial, which they did dutifully. Then, using a walking stick, Garrett limped to the burial grounds with Ser Eddard, Flowers and the boy from Flea Bottom, along with many of Donal's soldiers. They stood silently, their heads bowed in respect, as the septon began the prayer for the dead. Then there was a moment of silence while they paid their last respects, and the body of Ser Donal Tyrell began to be lowered into the earth.
His grave was right beside Addam's, and next to them was the grave of Arianna Hightower, Donal's long-dead wife. Even after Peake and the others left, Garrett remained by the graves as dusk fell, standing vigil over the family as he had done the night before for Ser Donal, and as he had done the night before Addam's burial. He said not a word, and ignored the maester of Thorn Hill and Ser Eddard's pleading to come away. When dawn at last arrived, he put a rose on Donal's grave, and walked away.

Amdle Flowers lingered a few moments after Garrett left. He hadn't particularly like Ser Donal but he had respected him, and being his squire had given him a place in the world. He placed a dark rose on his lord's grave and then turned to go.
The question, of course, was where to go. For the first time in his life, he could choose his own path. And he had no idea what that should be.
He began playing with the idea of returning to the Black Widow's Band.

At Thorn Hill's mid-sized but lavishly furnished and decorated feasting hall, Garrett sat silently at table, with Ser Eddard Peake and the captain's officers. The boy from Flea Bottom had stammered and walked away, and the Flowers squire hadn't come back in yet, but the sad, somber servants began bringing in rich food and Arbor wine for the knights and their men.
"I've been thinking, young ser," Ser Eddard said in a low voice. "Might Ser Donal have left a will?"
"I don't think so," Garrett replied as he sipped his soup. "I believe this keep will fall back into the hands of Lord Gathor, by the laws of our realm."

Lord Robert walked into the feasting hall "Hail to Donal he was my brother and i shall remember him for being a great man"
Stumbling to Garrett "to bad you do not wish to stay in Oldtown i am far richer then your Rhodri with all that Donal did for Oldtown trade i will need men like you, and Ser Eddard," As Robert swung his hand in front of Ser Eddard.
"Well i must say i am feeling rather sleepy well good night my dear friends" The the Lord proceeds to fall to the fall and snore loudly and only a good kick would rise him

Ser Garrett would not have anyone falling asleep at Ser Donal's table. "Lord Hightower wishes to rest," he told Ser Donal's steward coldly. "See that he's in a bed somewhere."
"Yes, ser," the steward said, evidently taking Ser Garrett to be in charge of the company. Lord Hightower was carried away.
"There is a lot of money in those Hightowers," Ser Eddard said thoughtfully. "I just might take the boy's offer."
Garrett snorted and continued eating.

The next day, Ser Eddard took his leave of Thorn Hill and rode to Hightower, where he presented himself before Lord Robert. "I wish to enter your service, my lord."

Ser Garrett sent a raven to Highgarden, to ask how the keep of Thorn Hill was to be maintained.
