The ancient castle of the Corbrays stood in waiting for the return of its favorite son from the wars. It had been empty too long.
And no one anticipated Ser Casset Corbray's return more than the three daughters of the yeoman farmer down the lane. Tilda, Betrina, and Mally had all grown up in awe of their glamorous neighbors, particularly the shy, good looking son of the house.

The youngest of the Avalon sisters, Mally Avalon would sometimes drive up the old ox-cart to Heart's Home, the great Corbray castle. Today she brought up turnips and onions, which had been especially requested by Lord Raymund Corbray.

Tilda made extra money for her family by teaching any one anything they wished. She held regular classes for the serving maids at the Heart's Home to teach them the basics of reading and sewing. Her prize students though were the two children of the butler. He had ideas about what his children, Egalina and Fermont, should know and she was happy to oblige, especially since he would smuggle her into the castle library so she could bone up on various subjects.
The library, with its tall walls of not quite dusty (for the butler would never allow such a thing) ancient leather bound volumes, and tall windows where the sunshine streamed through was her favorite place in the whole world.

Mally Avalon was a beautiful, buxom young girl of sixteen, and had often eyed Ser Casset Corbray. She was dejected when he refused her advances, saying that he was betrothed.
"Damn your highborn maid," Mally said. "You've never tried me." But Ser Casset, it seemed, had no intention of breaking his vows.
Unable to deal with rejection, Mally left for King's Landing.

Tilda Avalon received an unexpected inheritance from an aged great aunt. For the first time she had a little money and her family encouraged her to spend it as she would.
She decided she would go to King's Landing to see the big city, to find out how her sister Mally did, and to meet her mother's family, the Flowers, well known merchants of King's Landing.

Bored of life without her sisters to inject some excitement into it, Betrina stole out of the house one night intending to travel on to King's Landing to see her sisters again and then perhaps even visit some other towns.

ooc: ;D Well, I'm sure life with Mally and Tilda in KL is far more interesting than being stuck in the Vale with nothing to do...

Ser Hellman and Brandon Royce arrive at Heart's Home.
"It might be wisest start your search for Samantha in Corton, the nearby village, Brandon." Ser Hellman said. "Of course we've checked there and asked all the villagers already, but your search might turn up something different."

Brandon nodded, "That will do for a start, yes. What kind of girl is she like?"

"Her hair is long and blonde, her eyes are green. She is plain-faced and of average height for a girl her age. She is well known in Corton, her previous explorations have taken her to the village many times on her own."

Brandon scratched his chin, he'd need to shave soon. "And how is she as a person, besides stubborn and adventurous?"

"Well she can be sweet too, when she thinks it'll get her what she wants. She loves to horse ride, she'd always try to go as fast as possible. Use to think the rascal was practicing to get away." He chuckled nervously. "She loved playing with that sword of hers too. Every chance she got. Didn't like to do it when too many were watching, though, think she wanted to keep it as secret as she could. And she's a quiet one, good at sneaking around without being noticed."

Brandon hmm-ed, "I see, well I better get started then. I'll send a message if I do find out anything in Corton". He turned his horse, grimacing at the thought of more riding.
