A man of fine clothing arrives at the docks, flanked by twenty men in red and black. The man inclined his head to the Hand, "My Lord Hand, I am Ser Dortmund Grafton. My father, Dominic, Lord of Gulltown is with Lord Rhodri in the Eyrie." Dortmund paused for a moment, not sure how to continue. "My Lord Hand, I apologize, but I do not understand the request you have made. The Regent is not in the Vale to my knowledge. I would presume he is at his station in King's Landing..."

Horas Blackwood raises an eyebrow. "Lord Bettley has summoned me to the Vale to meet with him. You are certain he is not here? I understand he was heading to the Eyrie, with his lady wife and the young king."

"I'm sorry my Lord Hand, the Lord Bettley did not pass through Gulltown. Perhaps you arrived before he did?" Ser Dortmund's head cocked a bit to the side, "In any case, let me take you the Grafton Manor, so that you may refresh and eat."

"It is possible he arrived through the Bloody Gate," Horas says. "I would like to send a raven to the knight of the gate to ascertain whether he has or not. And I will gladly accept your offer of hospitality, Ser Dortmund."

"I will have the birds dispatched. Come with me." They march to Grafton Manor and are shown to the greathall. They sit at a table and some servants immediately bring a flagon of wine. "So tell me, Lord Hand, what news of King's Landing?"

"His lordship the Regent has recently recovered from his illness," Horas says, "though he left recently. I was under the impression he came here. Prince Andry has also resigned his position -- an unfortunate business, I'm afraid."

Dortmund nodded solemnly. "I pray to the Mother that nothing befell the Regent on his journey here... So, I take it some friction between uncle to the king and regent to the king?"

"Prince Andry did not favor the way the investigation of the assassination attempt went," Horas says. "Tell me Ser Dortmund, how is the Lord Arryn? I have heard rumors he is in poor health."

"I believe he is not well, Lord Hand. He has not left the Eyrie for many months, and strange rumors float among the smallfolk..." Dortmund took a draft of his wine and grimaced. "I only hope the Vale can persist without his guiding hand should anything befall him."

"I am sad to hear that," Horas says. "Lord Rhodri has been a friend to me for many years. The entire Kingdom will be poorer without him."

"Aye, that." Dortmund shook his head. "Let us speak of happier things. I heard of a wedding between Falgrave and Blackwood?"
