Aerie frowned, but smoothed it out quickly. "Take Marina with you. She knows how to be quiet. If she starts holding you back, then you can have her wait somewhere for you."
There. Nothing to worry about.

Flea frowned. "Girls don't know how to be whisperers." Flea said, even though he knew that wasn't true. He just didn't want some smelly girl messing things up for him.
"Alright she can come." Flea said unhappily.

Aerie raised an eyebrow at him. "Many say girls don't know how to fight or understand politics," she reprimanded, "but you should know that is untrue.
"I'm certain you two will get along," she went on in a milder tone.

"I know. You should ever underestimate anybody. Even if they are a girl." Flea said sagely, as if he was repeating something he'd been told a thousand times. "Once you underestimate someone. BAM!" he said, clapping his fingers like a trap. "That's when they get you. Where did Alyassa find this inn? I've never walked so far in all my life!" Flea complained, all though in a happy good natured voice.

Aerie laughed at his antics. Apparentally, Varner had been rubbing off his paranoia on everybody he interacted with. "Yes, a much better philospohy," she smiled. "The inn is only around that corner."

"Have you been to Gulltown before? Are we gonna order some lunch when we get there? I could eat a horse. I heard someone say that the mountain clans eat horses. Do you think that's true? I bet it is. Horse probably isn't a bad meal, as far as stringy gamey meat goes. I've probably had worse." Flea imagined squatting around a fire with his face painted, eating a horse.

Aerie continued to laugh; his enthusiasm was infectious. "Slow down! Yes, I've been here before, and yes, we will eat, though certainly not horse. I'm not in the habit of eating my mounts, and I hope you will not develop one either."

"Well, if we ever have to, I promise I'll eat your mount. And than you can eat mine. That way we won't get into any bad habits." Flea said, with a twinkle in his eye. "Marina and I aren't going to have to share a room are we? I bet she snores. I saw her at the house in King's Landing, and she looked like she snored."

Aerie was truly laughing now. "Horses will never be on the menu Flea, but you will be if you let Marina catch you saying that! Most boys find her rather pretty," she went on, casting him a merry sidelong glance. "But no, you will most certainly not be sharing a room with her." Aerie hesitated. She had not thought about nightime. I'll just have Nemesis watch his door she decided with some relief.

"Oh thank god. And you can be pretty and still snore. I heard that there's this one courty-san in Braavos called the "Rushing Falls" and everyone thinks its because waterfalls are beautiful, but its not, its because she snores something terrible. I think one of the sailors at the docks in Oldtown told me that one time." Flea said. "And how do you know you don't like horse if you've never had it? It could be delicious."

"That is true, though I've never heard of this Rushing Falls before. Still, little Flea, you don't have to act like she contagious and will afflict you with female disease." She smiled.
"It's good to know you have such exotic taste, but as long as I feed you, I'm afraid you will never quite know the taste of horse either."

"I've heard the bowls of brown called a lot of things, but not egg-aught-ic." Flea said chuckling. "I'm sure she's nice." He added, speaking of Marina, "But I just don't see what all the fuss with girls is about. That's why I like you. You're just like a regular man..." he stopped in mid-sentence and rethought. "Well I mean, you know, you like swords, and spying on people, and not like quilting and stuff."

"So you like me because you think I'm a man?" Aerie crowed incredulously, ruffling the boy's hair with perhaps a little too much vigor. "Don't worry, you're a growing boy. You'll find out what it's all about soon enought. Won't that be fun."

"Well I know you're not a man!" Flea said, struggling under the incessant hair-ruffling. "But you know, you aren't all girly. I mean like Lady Anne was nice? But she never... does anything. She just walks around, and was always telling me that we had to do something about my hair."

Aerie laughed. "Well, that's what Lord Varner liked her for. You can find a girl that does what you like. See how that works? I think so far you have very good taste." She winked.
