Benedicta smiled. "Not Cedric, not in the long run."
She squeezed Marten's hand. "You've won, my cousin. Cedric can't marry Jeyne any more than I could. Even if he gets the regency, we win when the young Lady flowers."

Marten took her hand, smiling sadly. He takes Benedicta aside.
"Cedric may become a Regent, but he will have to meet our demands. including giving you a rightful position in the West. Perhaps we have won.....still, I didn`t even have time to grief my wife." -He looks distressed.
"They took her away from me after we were married for days, Benedicta. They reached her in a way that I couldn`t defend her from."

Benedicta sighed and nodded. "I know. And Horas went out of his way to make your life worse." She shook her head angrily. "Playing up to the Ironborn even when they raid and rape, turning out Lyas Bolton for trying to defend his kin..."
She looked at Marten and lowered her voice. "I'm starting to see why the Kingdoms are so unstable, my cousin. If there is no justice, there can be no safety for anyone."

Marten nodded.
"You speak wisely. Does Princess Emelia believe as you do?"

Benedicta grinned at Marten. "She -raised- me, coz," she responded. "Everything I know about rulership, I learned from her, and if anything she's too rigid sometimes. Like Rhodri and Andry, though she won't let anyone believe it." She looked at Marten.
"She has told me that I am blood of her blood, and you, Marten, are blood of my blood. I believe she will aid us in this, and in whatever goals may come in future, though I can never be sure of how she will go about doing so."

Marten grins as well.
"You are a Lioness, but some, including your brother, seem to believe that you are not a true Lannister because of not being raised in the West. I will help you prove them wrong.
Now, my plan is to sign an agreement that would be accepted by the Regent and Jeyne`s protectors. What terms do you propose?"
OOC: You can respond by PM if you wish.

Benedicta raised a hand. "First, we learn who Piers selects for regent. -Then- we come up with a deal. If either of us gets the Regency, we'll make the pact then, otherwise, we'll deal with Cedric."
She turned to Jonas and nodded to acknowledge him.

"I agree, though we must remember that Cedric worked with Lord Regent before."
"With Lord Jonas offering his aid, we have over 15 000 men gathered here, quite a substantial force if unified." -He nods to Westerling.

He nods, "Yes, I do believe one of us should contact the Hand, for he can tell us who he wants as regent. And there is another matter, I am manager of Randal's estate, and need to return to the Rock to gather a few things, yet I wouldn't dare untill Cedric is either named Regent or named traitor."

Benedicta looked at Jonas. "Both Marten and myself will be going to the Eyrie," she responded equitably, "to discuss the matter with him in person. But we don't think Cedric will be named a traitor even if he loses the regency."
She looked back to Marten. "With that said, I propose we get our forces to Keyce and hold there while we travel east."

Marten glances at Benedicta when she unilaterally mentions him going to Eyrie , but decides to say nothing in front of Jonas.
"Of course, we must make sure that Lord Piers won`t prosecute me or my family for the tragic events in Keyce. Fortunately he was close friends with my father and is likely to believe his word. And I agree with holding our forces mobilized."

Benedicta nodded. "Then we're agreed," she said finally. "Who will you leave to command Keyce?"

"Well, I am not sure if I shouldn`t stay here myself, but if not Ser Walter Plumm and my brother Phelan will be in command, at least until my father gets better."

A small party of men ride up to the field. One man bears a banner with the colors of the king.
Their leader rides forward and unfurls a scroll. Other men ride to the claimants and asks for them to gather to hear the message.
"King Rickon Baratheon has called a council to determine the next Lord Regent of the West. It shall take place in the Eyrie. Anyone who wishes the title for themself is instructed to attend the council and state their case before King and Hand. In addition, the following must attend: Cedric Lannister. Marten Lannister. Maurin Lannister. Benedicta Lannister. Lords Banefort and Westerling."
The messenger bows.
