Yeah, rock climbs and rope climbs are really hard on your upper body, and leave you pretty weak to face the kingsguard ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

Well that's the idea, isn't it? Shouldn't be an easy ride into the Kingsguard.

Well, if you feel weak and have your muscles ache and feel as if you can barely lift your sword above your waist, how are you supposed to make it past the kingsguard and get the Golden Rose? I'd say it is challenging enough. Most people would never have climbed much their entire life, and the only strength a man needed was strength to lift swords and wear armor. They never needed well rounded muscles, only pure strength that wouldn't be good at climbing, balancing etc.

Oh well sure, I guess if you want your Kingsguard to be a bunch of pantywaists who can't climb a ladder, that makes sense.

I was thinking more of the rope climbing, or rock climbing... Not ladder climbing ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

OOC: Honestly, Tytos, I have no idea what you're talking about. Fighting with a sword requires balance and dexterity-- not only brute strength. I think most knights wouldn't have any problem climbing a rope. Maybe in armor it would be very difficult, but by no means impossible.

Bane Karstark's name is scratched from the list. This event is enterable by invitation only.
------
Lord Horas Blackwood stands near Randal Lannister at the end of the course, looking somewhat amused. "I had not expected anything quite so... elaborate," Horas says to Randal. "Though I suppose it will suffice."

Randal gives Horas a friendly smile as he finishes showing the Hand his course, "Well, you wanted something interesting, and this is bound to be that. Besides, we don't want the Kingsguard to be a bunch of weaklings and fools, now, do we. Besides, only one has to make it through to get the Rose. Have you got a list of canidates ready yet?"

Seth appears bedazzled by the structure, surely a complex feat.

"Indeed, I'm not sure if anything of its like has been tried in Westeros before. The smallfolk will be bound to love it," Horas says. "As for the competitors, a few are still deliberating over whether to join. I expect the competition will be ready tomorrow or the day after."

A young boy in Varner livery runs up. "Lord Horas Blackwood! I'm looking for Lord Horas Blackwood please! It's urgent."

Flea huffed and puffed, and finally had enough air to say, "Lord Francis, he's charged Lord Tallahar with Treason! They were in the tent, and they argued, and they said something, and than Francis said it was treason! He told me to get you and Lord Regent.... Piers.. something." the small boy scratched his head, pouting for his failure to remember.

"Very well," Horas says, "Lead the way, if you will."
Horas follows the young boy, several guardsmen in the livery of the Hand falling in beside him.
