"Bored? Add to that that I did not get enough sleep last night," Nymeria said, waving the thought away. "It is too noisy in this city, even here where the manses of various families are." "I'm sorry to hear that. I won't ask which families are keeping my lady up at night, but I won't object should you choose to tell me. I suppose some of the celebrations have gone on rather long. No doubt it will be quiet soon enough," said Gwayne. "But my lady, if you would like a change of scene, may I suggest a visit to Oldtown? I am to hold a tourney soon. The city is fairer than Kings Landing, and you may be sure we take good care of our guests."

Doreah tilted back her head and uphanded the contents of her glass completely into her mouth. This had become ritual with them--Aurane snuck off with women right in front of his wife's face, and Doreah drank herself into a noncomprehending gloom. She eyed the girl critically while simultaneously trying to figure out which was the quickest route to the nearest alcoholic beverages for refills. It was a young wench this time--she probably still slept with her favorite doll at night and wouldn't know the difference between a cock and a cabbage. He liked them like that though: the better for when they were introduced to his absolutely hopeless bedroom technique, and would think a cock was truly supposed to look like that. Doreah knew better. It wasn't. She shot Tynian a dead look that dared him to comment whatsoever over her public humiliation, and then resignedly continued her quest for wine.

Tynian chuckled and handed Doreah his wine glass, which was mostly still full as he had but sipped at it, as he took up her challenge. "Far be it from me to give any advice to Lady Blackheart, but if that were my spouse" he gestured at Aurane's increasingly drunken flirtation with the Royce girl "I doubt I'd let such conduct pass without comment"
He took a fresh wine glass from a passing servant and studied her reaction, knowing how trapped she was by societal convention and fully aware of his brother's proclivities and vices.
He wondered how the bold & vivacious women he'd met 10 years ago had ended up as this frustrated and browbeaten drunkard. He mused internally whether Doreah knew how much in common she shared with Winnifred now, despite their constant feuding and bickering. It was as if each held up a mirror to the other, and hated the flaws it showed.

It was as if each held up a mirror to the other, and hated the flaws it showed. Doreah threw Tynian a look that could freeze the sap in trees and make a Weirwood’s weeping red eyes look companionable in comparison. “Yes Ty, we all know what you would have done in the situation. I think you’ve demonstrated quite clearly how well you handle challenging family dynamics.” Despite her deathly calm diatribe, she plucked the glass he proffered her without hesitation; but she was too affected to drink. “I did not realize you cared so much for me as to recommend such a treatment of your own brother. He does remind you remarkably of Gerion, does he not? Still, he entertains such quaint notions about you—like his unquestioning faith in your loyalties, for example.” The man had changed greatly in the last several years—that much was obvious. There was none of that quaking, battered boy she had met on his sickbed left in him. Whatever now occupied that vacancy, though—Doreah knew she had to handle it like a snake let loose in her chambers. She had not thought their relationship could change any more than it had that day Tynian had left them, but she had clearly been wrong in the matter. It had changed yet still, and she now had to learn him anew.

Tynian barked a quick burst laughter before he recovered himself, utterly unaffected by her icy demeanour towards him. "I certainly didn't mean to imply that brand of solution was necessary, my dear!" he chuckled "My brother shares our father's eye for frequent female companionship but not his darker base desires or needs, of which you can consider yourself most fortunate" his eyes gleamed dangerously for a moment before he recovered his composure and regained his nonchalant pose.
"And my loyalties are of course, above reproach. No-one loves my family as I do" he said in mock outrage "As quaint a notion as the love you share with your own daughters no doubt" he hid a tiny smile as he took a sip of his wine.
"Teirney and Nymeria, are they not? Such obedient children so I've heard" he said in a sly tone.

Tynian looked across and snorted derisively at his mother's inappropriate attire. He doubted a saggy mother of four was how Rhaena Targaryen had ever looked, even in her dotage. Considering the numerous other wigged Targaryen princesses now on show at this costume party, this had to be one of the most unconvincing of them all. He smiled to himself as he imagined a judging contest of all the would-be Targaryen entrants and had no illusions of where Winnifred would find herself in that kind of competition.
He glanced across at Doreah's costume and then back to his mothers. White & Black. He wondered if the contrast was deliberate or wonderfully and accidentally ironic. Either way, he was amused.

"Of course! This party could not be considered a success without our matriarch on hand to dispense her worldly wisdom" he replied with a florish and a bow, without a hint of irony, though it could hardly be anything else.
"Business of my own brings me home mother dearest although Aurane seems to have missed me, which is rather sweet, if at odds with the overall mood my return seems to have engendered. I am well, by the way" he said, answering a question she had never asked.
"No more grandsons or in-laws to report as of yet, but my brother seems to be taking care of that side of the family business without any assistance from me so I doubt you'll notice the lack, or indeed anything which doesn't revolve around you and your desires" he said jovially, though with a cruel look in his eyes as he took in what had become of his mother.
"As for my return to the Free Cities? Well, who can say. An interesting job opportunity may have come up in Kings Landing and I'd be loathe to miss the opportunity to catch up with my beloved kin and their affairs" he stressed the last word with a thin smile. "Any sign of Lord Oswyn and Amelia yet? I think marriage agrees with them, don't you agree?" his eyes studied her reaction and he took a slight step backwards out of reach, in case she did something rash and stupid as she had once before. If so, he was ready.

"Wouldn't that be cheating, my lord Lannister?" she said with a charming smile. "but it's your party, so I guess I'll grant you a part of your wish" she said and pulled the mask up a little, so that Aurane could see the lower part of the chin and mouth, showing off her smile. Aurane grinned. "Already I am struck by your beauty; in fact, I would feel rude not issuing you an invitation to dine with me at some later date." He lead her into one of the main rooms and passed Jennalyn a glass of wine. "I do hope that mask lets you drink." Jennalynn smiled and lifted her mask just enough to take a sip of wine, before she placed it across her face again. "I would like nothing more than to accept your invitation, but I am afraid that with the festivities around the corner, I am not sure if I would have the time to have dinner with you, Lord Lannister. Besides, it would not be proper to have a private dinner with a married man, there would be too much gossip at the court and I would not wish to bring shame to your house, besides can't we enjoy each other's company here tonight?"
