Had the boy never been taught what the word "hostage" meant? Ser Forrester wondered what sort of upbringing they had at the Hightower. "I do not think you comprehend your situation, ser" he told Ser Leyton. "If you do not allow your random to be paid, then you belong to House Stark as their prisoner, or to be executed or kept as a servant if it pleases Lord Stark. If you think that it will help your companions to see your head mounted on the gatehouse of Winterfell then you are welcome to stay here. Or you can be sensible, come with me, and beg your lord brother on your knees for the coin to random your friends. I doubt he will listen, since he was loathe to spend any coin for you, but you can try." "I understand my situation perfectly well, sir." Ser Leyton replied. "And I have given my response. I cannot in good faith abandon those whose fates I am responsible for. I would sooner die than fail in my duty."

Since Edric had refused Ser Leyton's request to withdraw, the Far Reach knight stood silently at the edge of the room, looking distinctly unamused.

Eirek had stayed quiet throughout the exchange, weighing his options.
"You seem to think that you have far more say in this than you do, Hightower." Eirek told his prisoner. "Ashby, I accept the offer from Lady Lannister, and I grant you custody over Leyton Hightower. My offer of hospitality of course stands. If you need any aid removing Ser Boy, here, from Winterfell come morning, please let me know."

Edric had a wolfish grin for the young Hightower as he patted the seat next to him. "Better eat up, ser. It's a long way down home for you." He looked to Ser Forrester. "I will personally assist you should you need my help."

Ser Leyton's dark look darkened further. He turned his back on the Starks and attempted to leave in as dignified a manner as he could, given the circumstances. Reaching the exit, he was forced to attempt to shoulder his way through the two guards who had escorted him in.

"I will not forget this." Leyton glared at the older knight. "I served Lord Aurane for over a decade, and this is how his family repays my service! I will not tolerate this, I have indicated to you my decision and since you have opted to disregard it, I shall disregard any that you make, or attempt to make on my behalf."
He pointedly refused to mount the mockery of a beast, and instead stood with his arms crossed, glaring with what could only be described as hatred at the Lannister messenger. "The gods be my witness that I will not abandon this righteous cause."
(OOC: This is fun, although I expect I know what's coming next.)

Edric had followed the knights to the yard in silence, an apple in one hand and a goblet in the other. Fighting the urge to roll his eyes at Ser Leyon's words, he emptied his cup and hit the greenlander knight in the back of the head with it to knock him out.

The cup hit hard but not enough to truly damage Leyton's hard head. Blood was drawn.

Hopefully before Leyton could react, Edric gave his head another knock, extremely annoyed by his inability to make the young man pass out.

Leyton responded by turning around and attempting to strike his assailant in the face, channelling months of pent up rage into his blow.
(OOC: Assuming Leyton's hands are unrestrained at present. If not, please ignore.)

Leyton managed to dodge a cup, which only now Edric realized is such a terrible weapon. Leyton's blow landed on Edric's jaw.

Snarling, Edric threw the cup to the ground, having been in a similar situation to Leyton's for months, his anger mixed with the bitterness caused by the princess' impending marriage. "Get on the fucking horse," he said through his teeth, ignoring the throbbing pain in his jaw.

Eirek, watching from the door of the hall, shouted at his brother.
"Edric! No matter the terms, he remains our guest until he leaves Winterfell. You insult the Gods, and me, through your actions. Get inside."

"What Gods," Edric huffed, turning abruptly to walk back to the castle, his direwolf on his heels.

Eirek ignored that, and turned to Leyton.
"I apologize for my brother's conduct, Hightower. He is young and foolish. You understand that."
