"You are very kind, my lord," she said at once. "Your own attire is most handsome too. I am blessed with the kind of figure that looks good in most anything, thankfully, so having a seamstress sew a dress to suit me is not hard. I had to dress with special care tonight, of course, with Lord Tyrell having been my goodfather. I had to represent both the Hightowers and the Tyrells." "Blessed is the right word," Aurane said, taking her in with a lingering glance. "As for your representation... I find a slight is not the worst thing, once in a while. See how riled up your lords or opponents get; a test, if you wish. It's the ones that remain very calm that one needs to worry about." "Perhaps you are right, but I am not brave enough to test my relations with Lord Tyrell," Izzy said with a laugh. His clear interest in her was flattering, of course, and she was inclined to be friendly as a result. "I would hold out the hand of friendship to all. I desire no enemies. I am sure even the wealthy and distinguished House Lannister prefers friends to enemies?"

"The Vale.... I have heard it had a beautiful view", she smiled. Melyssa sees Nymeria yawning,"but forgive me, what would you like to do?"

"Else I would probably not be talking to you," Aurane said with a chuckle, to emphasize his joke. "In fact, if at any point you tire of this party I would invite you to my manse in the city. Though I will be holding a party of my own there soon."

Nymeria shook her head. "Oh, I don't know. We should probably tease some of the uglier girls," She suggested. "Or you should go and ask that stupid Royce for his name."

Though I will be holding a party of my own there soon." "I will be sure to attend," she promised. "And my brothers will come too. It might not be...appropriate for me to come without an escort, my lord." She smiled innocently at him. "But I am sure my lord would not presume to have designs upon a poor widow like myself."

"An escort? Who cares what people think; you are no doubt a woman with a good reputation, no?" Aurane replied, itching for that wine now. "As for myself?" He shrugged. "I am a married man. What people whisper, they whisper, though no man speaks such things to my face. Who would trust their veracity?"

It takes a great deal less for a woman's reputation to be harmed," she said. "I myself am not afraid of you - or your reputation - but I must be sure not to worry my family. My lady mother would be quite worried if there were to be gossip about me, and my brothers as well. It is for their sake I guard myself so well."

Aurane shrugged. "We do not have to leave at the same time, if you wish. Wear a cloak or any other form of disguise when you show up." He folded his hands with a grin. "Or we simply act like two normal people who have nothing to hide... which we don't." He tilted his head sideways.

I must confess I am not sure why you are even taking such an interest in me. I am sure I have done nothing to warrant it," she said sweetly.

"That is very reassuring," Amelia said with her gentle smile. "Indeed, I am sure the realm can breathe with knowledge of such vigilance." Oswyn said, not missing Tyrell's thinly veiled subtext. "Though I would breathe easier with a worthy Master of Laws on the Small Council, should any acts of treason take place." Tyrell chuckled, "And what would you do if you were Master of Laws?"

Despite the disturbance of his nephew and the fetching Royce girl, Oswyn's cobalt eyes rarely wavered from Lord Tyrell. He allowed the rest to speak around him, as he sidled up closer to the Master of Coins.
"I would ensure the rule of law and order, the same as any man in the position would be expected to." he replied. "A strong and loyal Master of Laws seems more pertinent than ever in a time so rife for treason. If I may be so bold, perhaps one known for his endearing generosity to the impoverished of the capital, willingness to sacrifice for the good of the realm, and devotion to the meting out of the Queen's justice regardless of the culprit."

"Or we simply act like two normal people who have nothing to hide... which we don't." He tilted his head sideways. Aurane could observe Leyton hurrying back toward him through the crowd, two goblets of wine in hand. They both appeared to contain red wine though, contrary to Aurane's request for one white. "Apologies, my lord." Leyton bowed his head. "I was unable to locate any white beverages. It seems that either Lord Tyrell neglected to stock them or they have all been consumed. I searched most thoroughly, I assure you." He offered the goblets to Aurane.

"I am sure I've seen some pretty girls walking around, Leyton. Why don't you go find one and tell her Lord Lannister himself will be knighting you on the morrow?"

"Would you be your own man?" Tyrell asked. "I would be a man of the realm." he answered, with conviction. "The responsibility of the Small Council, after all, is to serve."

"And what advice would you give the Queen if you did serve?" Tyrell asked.
