Balthazar openly eyed Elyssa with appreciation before returning to Eirik. "Quite an odd group. I am surprised you are moving further from King's Landing." He yawned suddenly and covered it slowly with a fist.

Eirek replied, "I'm not sure what you mean. It's been some years since we were at Winterfell, after all, and we are all anxious to return home."

"Oh... you have not heard?" Balthazar asked, and then turned to look at the keep of the Manderly's, "Perhaps my father wants the honor."

"Heard what? If something important's gone on, by all means speak."

"It is of some importance... the King has passed." Balthazar replied.

Eirek looked down for a moment, unsure how to react. "By the Gods...there will be a war. Wherever Prince Damon is, he'll be rallying men to his claim. Have we been called South?"

"War." Damin seemed to roll the word around in his mouth, "This can only end badly."

"Of course we shall ride together. I'll have to take this overgrown puppy hunting from time to time." She stroked the direwolf's ears fondly, smiling pleasantly at Damon.
But that smile slowly slid from Elyssa's face. "War? Again? But you've only just come back. You haven't even been home," she said, mostly to her brothers, but generously including Damon Lannister as well. She looked at the ships in distaste. "I pray the succession goes smoothly."

"There may have been no summons. But with Damon in exile, and Rose theoretically the heir without him, what else can happen? We can't expect him to just roll over and accept that his sister is queen. After all, isn't your friend the Bolton boy a companion of his? You know." Eirek replies to Manderly.

"I doubt Cousin Maty would date help an exile, Stark, no matter how close a friend he was." Balthazar replied.

"Has he turned back up, since Damon disappeared? Last I heard, he fled along with the disavowed prince."

"I am sure even know he rides North towards home. I mean you can understand why he would not stay in the city after being so well known as a friend of the K... I mean Prince." Balthazar smiled and winked at Eirik.

Eirek did not take the bait. "It's been months. He could have started in the wrong direction, reached Dorne before he realized, turned around, and still reached the Dreadfort by now. Damon Targaryen, Prince or King or whatever he is at this point, is going to be in rebellion against his sister. The South will be embroiled in war."
