"It is somewhat remote," Bayard acknowledges, "Would you intend to live there year-round?"

"it is very likely." replied Gareth. "A Lord cannot be absent from his lands too long."

"A necessary constraint," Bayard agrees. "Jennalynn will adjust, I have no doubt. I believe she is here... shall I call her in?" Bayard gestures for the servants to pour more wine.

Gareth held out his cup. As the servant filled his cup he glanced at his brother and then back to Bayard.
"I intend to make my future in the Stepstones Lord Bayard and as such I would be hoping that my bride can bring something to that future."

Jennalynn had stood outside in the hallway, having eavesdropped on most of the conversation. She didn't know exactly how she felt about the idea of moving to an island so far away from all of her friends here at court, but she had always known that she'd have to make sacrifices when she was to become a wife. Besides, Ser Gareth was a rather good-looking man and she was friends with his sister so she'd probably get visits from her from time to time. It was also one of the best matches available to them at the moment, and likely there would be no others after the announcement that she would be married to Ser Gareth.
She decided that it was time for her to join in the conversation when she heard her uncle mention her name and she strolled into the room in the most elegant way possible. She was dressed into a tight-fitted bronze satin gown that had black lace around her neck and at the end of her sleeves.
"Greetings my lords" she said and curtsied with a charming smile. "I was told by the servants of the manor that we had guests, and as the only women here felt it was my duty as a hostess to greet you." she said as a formal greeting first.
"Ser Gareth, how lovely to see you again. How have you been since we met last?" she said, giving him another smile, feigning that she hadn't listened in on the conversation. "And Lord Hightower, I hear that you are throwing a tourney soon. I think that is just what the realm need now."

Gareth gave a wry smile at Jennalynn's entrance almost the very moment Lord Bayard had asked whether she should be called in. As courtesy demanded, he gave her short bow.
"Lady Jennalynn. Weary somewhat of Kings Landing though, but otherwise well." he replied in answer to her question about his welfare.

Jennalynn nodded, not fully understanding how one could be weary of King's Landing, and gave him a understanding smile.
"I am pleased to hear that you are well, Ser Gareth." keeping her eyes locked in his. "Then you are looking forward to return to Oldtown for the tourney as well then?"

"I am." replied Gareth. "We have been some time away and of course my brother and myself were away for five years before then. Naturally I hope to compete in the tourney as well."

"That is understandable, Ser Gareth, so when will you return to Oldtown? I have always dreamt of going there myself, so maybe We can convince my uncle to let me travel with you down there? she said and glanced over at her uncle, looking for some kind of feeling toward the matter. "Will your sister be going with you too?" She said, before realizing that she had begun talking fast and without thinking what she was saying.
"I will say a prayer to the Warrior to guide your sword and lance during the tourney" she said when she regained herself.

Gwayne frowned.
"Unfortunately it is now clear that the tourney must needs be postponed until this matter in the North has been resolved," he said. "It is improper for the Far Reach to play at war while men may be losing their lives in the North. I regret it, but it must be done for the good of the realm. And it will give us something to look forward to later."

Jennalynn sighed slightly as Lord Gwayne mentioned the troublesome northmen. The realm had barely picked themselves up from the War of the Stepstones, now the North had to disrupt the realm over some trees. Many wives and children would see their husbands or fathers leave and never return again, sisters never see their brothers and the realm would have to be rebuilt again by the blood, sweat and tears of those remaining.
"That is unfortunate, Lord Hightower."she said, though her sad eyes were upon Ser Gareth, wondering if the bethrothal discussions would be altered now with The Lord of Oldtown's proclamation.

"It is most unfortunate," Gwayne agreed. "But I do not think Lord Stark will alter his pans simply to please me. But no matter, the tourney is postponed, not cancelled. It will happen when the time is right."

"I intend returning to Oldtown soon." replied Gareth."There is business I need to attend to. I doubt my sister will be accompanying me, she seems infatuated with life in Kings Landing."

"It is a shame your festivities must be postponed," Bayard acknowledges, "Though of course the needs of the realm must come first. But perhaps your tournament might be an appropriate time for a wedding as well?"

"Well, yes. That was the general idea," said Gwayne. "My sister Rohanne is to wed the heir to Riverrun. I see no reason why it could not be a double wedding, if the Tullys are willing to wait as necessary."
