Aenys grunted, and said nothing. He was staring at the map with the far away look he often got when mulling. Then murmured, "I think not, but if they were to make us think that. And commit too large a number of men as a rear guard..." Unlike Dawnrose, the Toad just seemed to react instinctively. He always seemed to know exactly what his opponent was going to do. Several times during the long campaign he would make a decision that had every other commander screaming at him, but every time his instincts were dead right.

"I am inclined to agree, my lord Hand," Lord Baratheon said. If we can find some weakness in the north side and get men inside the city to attack the gates as we moved against them, that would be ideal. Failing that, a heavy hammer blow against their lines should drive them into the sea. Even if we cannot take the castle quickly enough, if we crush the force outside we can besiege or assault the keep at our leisure, and deal with their reinforcements if and when they arrive."

Dawnrose leaned forward, "If they manage to hold are we not present an exposed flank right at that gates of that keep?"

"I can oversee and perhaps improve of any siege equipment, I have been skilled in the improvements of such devices for years." He says, looking to the men.

Ser Oswyn stood by his father, clad in black plate with gold filigree on the pauldrons. As the commander of the Stormlands' knights, he had been given the honor of leading the van on multiple occasions during the campaign, always in fighting where it was the thickest. Between Sammael's keen tactical mind and Oswyn's fury in battle, the Stormlanders had developed a reputation for shattering the enemy lines at the pivotal moment.

Dawnrose leaned forward, "If they manage to hold are we not present an exposed flank right at that gates of that keep?" "It will be a fierce fight, to be sure, but if we place the majority of our Knights on the left to stiffen our lines, they should hold, although if they do not sally out of the gates, it is unlikely that our knights will be able to wheel around their center and won't be of much use. A risky strategy, but every day we wait is a day closer that their reinforcements arrive, and as I said it will be that much more difficult for us if we allow them to arrive with this force intact," Baratheon replied. He stared down at the maps, almost as if he were trying to change what they showed with sheer force of will. "Our options are limited."

Ser Aemon was dressed in his blue robes as usual, since he did not expect to fight he wanted to be comfortable. He listened to Lord Baratheon and the Toad intently. Stroking his beard in thought he said,"What if we sneak most of our army out of here in the dead of night, the night before the ships are expected to land. And as they unload we ambush them and drive them into the sea. We leave behind archers and a contingent of crack infantry and they hold the fort long enough till we get back." He motioned to the outside of the tent,"We have fortifications of our own, why not use them to our advantage?"

"That's risky," Eirek adds, speaking up for the first time, "But there's no footmen here better than us Northerners. We could hold until the rest of you lot returned. Might need some archers for support, though."

Aenys looked at Aemon, "There are miles of beach to the south where they could land."

"Lucky I brought some then," Aurane said to Stark. "Well trained men, they are, with Western bows. Not the best, but they're powerful to be sure." He looked down, saw that studying any map in particular was out of the question, before looking up again. "My main problem is the combination of the words "sneak" and "army"." He added.

Gwayne said nothing. He wanted to listen but he had nothing particular to say as yet.

Dawnrose said, "I think Baratheon's plan is the best so far. It is what I would do." He scratched his jaw, "Who wants what command? Its your plan Samuel, whats your choice?"

"What you'd need is a system to observe the coastline, a number of scouts, on fast horses, to relay to you where the enemy is making his landing. Leave the infantry here, And just strike with your lancers," Captain Jaqen suggested, "hard and fast, crush them as they attempt to land, killing them as they attempt to wade ashore."
"If you had a unit of light horse, with keen eyes you could rely upon that is." he smiled. The Light Stampede company was, of course, a company of horse scouts. But despite their heroism under Ser Hugh, they were still sellswords.

"Should we find the theoretical weakness in their walls and choose to launch an assault," Eirek answered, "My Northmen can lead it. See how these poor sons of bitches stand up to a pack of Starks and a direwolf howling for their blood."

Aemon nodded and thought as second as everyone talked. After a minute he said to Aenys and the crowd,"We use the mercenaries and our fastest boats to scout and keep an eye on the ships. When they try to wade ashore we crush them with the horses until the rest of the army can arrive." He thought a second longer,"We should get the main bulk of the army to the most central part of the island the day before we think they will land. That will allow us to strike anywhere within a set amount of time or head back here in case thinks start to go south."
