The makeshift village assembled along the piers in the harbor where the Iron Born have moored their ships. Tents and pavilions smother the landscape. City dwellers had begun to call it "Isle Town" as almost a warning to anyone with too weak of temerity to avoid the place. However, those with the gonads had been spending quite a lot of time drinking and gambling there. It is rowdy and raucous.

Renwulf stood waist-deep in the cold, morning water. He was naked from the hips up, his arms stretched out to his sides, his fingertips barely touching the flesh of the sea. The sun was just peeking out, over the horizon, and the shaft of light illuminated his form in contrast with the dark, murky waters of the harbor. Renwulf's eyes were closed in prayer.

Jen sat with her feet in the water watching her brother but not joining in for now.

Renwulf turned to his sister. "The Drowned God would appreciate your devotion more than your feet, sister." He hunkered down slightly to splash some of the water on himself. As he did his long beard touched the surface of the water and came up drenched.

"He has my devotion Renwulf." Jen answered, "More then any other being but I know how you hate being disturbed while you are at prayer."

Renwulf stood again, and shuffled out of the tide. Gooseflesh rose all over his body as he emerged, and he went to where his sister sat next to his cloak. Grabbing it, he swiftly wrapped it around himself and turned to stare at his sister, the Willfyre.
"I hope that he deems your 'devotion' hard enough, Jen." He raised his eyes to look out at the expanse of water before them. "I see in your journey that it may make all of the difference. He is the only absolution from the Storm God, sister. And the Storm God's agents surround us on all sides here in the Greenlands." He dropped his gaze to focus on her again.
"Especially with how polite you have been since we have arrived. Do these Greenlanders deserve your sweetness?"

Jen shrugged. "It is not me that can decide that is it? But I know that it is unwise to choose the way that is most like to draw bloodshed at the wedding of the royals. I think even the Drowned God would agree to that logic, dont you?"

Renwulf scowled. "This is the issue with our brothers and sisters of the Iron. They think that there are only two options: passive or aggressive. One can show strength without provoking bloodshed. We are not here to make enemies, correct, but neither are we here to make friends."

"Is strength not accepting the hand of friendship so that weaknesses can be found out at times?" She asked, "Isnt it wise to learn a little more about the people then just to think they are all the same?"

"I know much about their ways. I have spent a long time exploring this strange world of ours and I am always keenly aware of the motives of men. They have not changed much in thousands of years, why would they suddenly be different now? They do not follow the Drowned God, they do not follow the Old Way, what more is there to know about them? The Drowned God has stated that those who do not follow the Old Way are of the Storm God's ilk." He shook his head. "I worry about your son when you have such a soft heart for things in this world, Jen."

"Imry is being brought up correctly." Jen said, her voice dangerously soft. "Have no fear in that."
She stood and shook her black hair out in the sun.
"What would you have me do Ren? Hate everyone and never know anything? I havent travelled as much as you yet."

"I would have you stop carousing as a Greenlander." He said simply. "I know your son will be a strong and capable reaver someday. But if he gains your sentiments I fear that will change. I see it in my dreams."

"Carousing as a Greenlander?" Jen repeated. "I have not been..." She shook her head. "I have no sentiments other then to actually learn more of the people that we are near and see who is weakest! Im sorry that you wish me to bunch up with you all the time."

"Go where you wish. Just remember that the Drowned God was the only one who we were able to rely on when we were so dramatically removed from our homes. We are where we are because of him. We owe him a debt. He saved us and brought us back to our home so that we could continue living the Old Way." He shook some water out of his beard and hair.
"They are our prey."

"How could I ever forget dear brother, with you around." She said sounding resigned.
