Saxon gave Winifred look that suggested disbelief, but to his credit he did not argue.
"Describe for me, if you would, this Hightower lady who has caught your Lord's attention."

Saxon did not seem impressed. He sighed and sipped his wine, "What about the red hair is so significant to him?"

Saxon raised a single eyebrow.
"I see. So in this Hightower woman, you see him repeating this pattern?"

"So if she rebuffs him that brutality may be visited up on you." Saxon said, " As for this Ser Oswyn, what appeals to you about him?"

"Does that not make you his Emily Serrets?" Saxon asked. "It seems cruel."

"No. I'm referring to Ser Oswyn who you would leave unable to experience wedded bliss for your own reasons?" Saxon asked. "Yet you would deprive him of the opportunity to be with you either."

"But you still wish to deprive him of wedding prospects?" He asked. He swirled the wine around in his glass, thought about drinking it, but then did not.
"Please understand I'm not judging, I'm simply working out the parameters of your request."

"Well. I shall follow the matter closely. If you show me evidence that you are upholding your end of the bargain, advancing his prospects and such, then I shall do my part." Saxon smiled.

"Lady Winiferd, how may I be of assistance?" Saxon asked, raising his eyebrow.

"Funny, I was going to ask you the same question," Saxon replied. "How goes Ser Oswyn's advancement?"

"Yes. Most disappointing bit of business. I had heard of the attack coming, but was unable to send a messenger to him in time." Saxon shrugged. "Do you think your Lord husband could be responsible?"

"Your husband did not seem pleased with his gifting you that rose," Saxon reminded her, "Perhaps having Oswyn beaten expended all his bloodlust. Do you know where he went, the evening after the joust finished?" Saxon asked.

Saxon shrugged, "Perhaps. In any case, I think I shall have to consider him a suspect. While any knight who he defeated might have cause to feel slighted, the severity of the beating suggests a more personal motivation."

"Unfortunately I do not yet know. It shall require additional research. When I know more, I shall inform you." He smiled, "in the mean time there is a question of my fee. You hurried out so quickly last time we did not have the opportunity to discuss it."
