Bayard actually laughed. "Uncle Mac... exactly how old are you?"

Uncle Mac threw a redundant dismissive gesture at the young lord. "Old enough that your father also knew me as uncle."

"King Valarr Targaryen. Son of Aerys Targaryen," Damian recites rotely. "Ruled from 640 to 659. Born six-hundred... fffifteen?" The young Royce struggled to remember more, but truth be told Maester Aldwyn's lessons had never been as interesting as reading about the Age of Heroes and Aegon I the Conqueror, or watching the knights practice out in the yard. Damian looks up at Mac and shrugs, admitting the extent of his knowledge.
"If Uncle Mac knew King Valarr... Gods, he's got to be near one-hundred and six!" Damian japes, making a face at Mac and chuckling to himself.

"HAR-HAR! A hundred and six!" Uncle Mac shook his head. "You'd best pay attention to your lessons boy, you wouldn't last a day as a steward."

Ser Malcolm had hold back to speak with his wife about how Robert was hold up back in the wagon, but he now rode up to his brother, nephew and uncle or whatever relation he had with Uncle Mac.
"You still telling that story about the Targaryen girl, Uncle Mac? I would think that someone as old as you would have other stories to tell by now" he said and winked at his uncle. "I remember you telling me and Bayard that story when we were about Damian's age, or was that another Targaryen, can't really remember."

"I have other stories... That's just the best one." He leaned in towards his squire. "Not many knights can claim to have kissed a princess after all."

"And yet the Princess in question seems to change with each telling... I shall attribute that to an old man's memory." Bayard smiles.

Uncle Mac pouted. "I'd attribute it to all those bloody Targaryens having all the same bloody names. If I said I knew a prince named Aegon, you'd have no clue which one it was! And I'm no liar. You're all jealous, is all." He shook his large head. "You young folk don't have fun like we used to."

Ser Malcolm burst out laughing as their "uncle" responded to their banter.
"Maybe you should find yourself a new story to tell while we are in King's Landing, but please try to keep the Targaryens out this time. Don't think it would be a good idea if you were the first kiss of one of the current women of the dragons."

"Oh, I don't know, Malcolm. 'Prince Mac' does have a certain ring to it." Bayard laughs lightly.

A deep frown rested heavy on Uncle Mac's face as he was teased by his younger family members. He looked to his squire and dropped his mask as a broad grin spread across his face. "HARHARHAR! PRINCE! ME!?" He slammed his fist on his chest loudly as he roared. "Mayhaps if I unhorse the young prince in the joust I'll win their hearts! HAR!"
