"That's very interesting." The man said, "Let me offer you say... Two hundred for your kind assistance with our headlining act, and another twenty five hundred for another job, if yer interested?"

"I'm interested" Malcolm replied, head already running wild with ideas for the next upgrade he'd purchase with that kind of capital. "What's the job?"

Actually 2500 wasn't enough for much of an upgrade, but it was a nest egg to start putting some real scratch together at least.
"The little girl. She's very significant to our operations. I can't explain how... it's complicated. But we'd like you to... extract her for us. You dig?"

"That all?" he asked, an amused grin on his face. Extracting important assets from hostile zones had been a large part of his trade in the Green Berets. "Anything else you can give me to work with?"

"Don't be flippant," the man replied, "We've got people looking for her, if we get a lead, I'll call you and you can do your thing. In the mean time, you'll have to pound pavement the old fashion way."

"I can do that." Malcolm replied, wiping the grin from his face. "Who's in the know in this town?"
Malcolm thought if he could track down the man the girl went off with he might be able to find the girl, or at least squeeze her location out of him.

"You'll want to see Carla, at The Camp. She knows everybody and everybody knows her. Might help." The man suggested. "Don't tell her we sent you, She doesn't like us."

"Us being?"Malcolm queried, suddenly aware that no introductions had been made. "I'm not too picky about my employers but it'd be nice to have an idea who I'm working for."

"If you don't know, you can't tell Carla and piss her off. Besides all you need to know is our money spends, right?" The man asked looking down his nose at Malcom.

" 'Fraid anonymity costs a bit extra." Malcolm replied evenly, meeting the man's derisive look. "Nothing somewhere to crash and a good bottle of whiskey wouldn't solve."

"If you want to sleep where we put you up, you ain't smart enough for this job," He replied. "You'd want to arrange your own place to crash, your own gear, and your own wheels." "All of which you can buy with the money we gave you. But since this is a bar, Whiskey I can handle. Tell the machine down stairs to give you two bottles of the premium. On us."

"That'll do nicely." Malcolm replied, grin returning to his face and curiosity quenched for the moment. "So where does a man go in this town for gear, augs, and women? Not necessarily in that order."
"Also how will I contact you when the time comes? Doubt you want me to bring a kidnapped little girl into this respectable establishment."

"Kidnapped is a harsh word. Let's go with rescued," the man replied, "And bring her in through the kitchen. Entrance is in the alley off the corner. Gear is Moe's, Women is the Doll House if you want high-end, or one of the Casinos, there's usually working girls there."
