Finn arrived. He was wearing his usual uniform of black leather doublet, breeches, and the white cloak pinned with the white-gold Weasel broach. A dagger, more fashion item than weapon, sat on his belt.
"Maester Lymon?" Finn asked as he rapped on the door just once, and stuck his head in.

Lymon motioned for him to come in. He was seated writing in a red ledger. There was no seat for Finn in front of the desk, but there were two against the wall. Lymon said, "One Minute."

Finn simply stood before the maester, crossing his hands behind his back and began waiting patiently. The tactic of beginning an interrogation by appearing disinterested and "too busy" to give it the proper attention was an old tactic that Finn had read about in the massive book of knowledge on such things assembled by a Lord Varner once upon a time.
The young Varner boy decided he would respond with apparent compliance, not taking one of the clearly available seats until offered to do so.

Eventually with out looking up the Maester asked, "How are you doing Finn?"

"I am well thank you," Finn replied, offering a small smile and visibly softening his posture, as if the Maester's attempt to lull him into a false sense of security has succeeded. "And yourself?" He offered.

Lymon put down his pen and looked up, "I am fine thank you fine. None of the other boys are giving you any trouble?"

Finn shook his head ever so slightly, "Not so far as I am aware...?" he said, letting the question hang. "Has someone said something?"

Lymon replied, "Of course not, but I am always the last to hear of such things anyway." He looked a little sullen at that thought, "Have you been enjoying your schooling? The reports I have read are glowing about your intelligence."

"Ah... why I'm sure they are too kind, but yes I have thank you. The opportunity to study at a place so renowned for its knowledge... meaning Oldtown, and under such skilled tutors is a blessing." Finn said. This statement had the added benefit of not being a lie. The reality was the library, and the tutors he'd had here were superior to any he'd have been able to get anywhere in Westeros.

Maester Lymon smiled, "Have you thought about applying to enter the Citadel?"

"The thought had crossed my mind," Finn replied, "But I'll confess I've never viewed myself as much of a healer."

Maester Lymon nodded, "To be honest it is not a fun part of our duties, but there are those who avoid it beyond the cursory training. Two Arch-maesters I know of get sick at the sight of blood."

"I suppose it is at least worth considering then," Finn admitted. Internally he objected to the Citadel only out of the notion of abandoning his family name. He had a sentiment that somehow he had a responsibility to preserve the name and its traditions, something his elder brothers, Gods bless them, were incapable of.

"How do you feel your training with the sword is going?" Lymon asked.
