Don't worry it's not a problem. You'll find you get a vastly different response to "Where is the nearest casino?" or something like that versus, "I need a job."
And always feel free to ask for help, I don't mind at all.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I suppose the thing for me is knowing just how close the relationship is with our world (and bearing in mind my experience of the real world is perhaps not entirely typical). Too tired to do anything right now but I will later. Sadly I'm too tired to think properly but not quite tired enough to sleep...

Well it is more like our world than Westeros is if that helps.

My cyberpunk experience is limited to blade runner and deus ex, both of which I had no idea were cyberpunk until this game. So you're in similar company and likely know more about the setting than you think you do.

The only experience I have is about five or six games of Shadowrun, so yeah, not too experienced either!

I have read almost all the shadowrun books, but never really played them. Love that setting so much.

Yeah, well the setting is more Stranger home-made then anything specific, but I'm stealing generously from everywhere.

I'm still kinda lost! Any films I can watch that would help?

Twelve Monkies is also a good one, though it's quite bizarre.

Yeah. A lot of these, you are just getting the general jist of things, rather than the plot or specifics.
Key takeaways- Corporations are Evil and up to no good and in charge of everything. There's an emphasis on information, reality and virtual reality.
A strong focus on the "Spaces in between" or marginalized subcultures, like... bike messengers and squatters.

Here's a trailer for the game Deus Ex that should give you a good idea. Covers most of the usual cyberpunk tropes: evil all powerful corporations, great advances in technology, declines in standard of living, criminal elements, film noir style, ect.
