Euric took the information in with nods and a twitch at the end. "The devastation at Kings Landing was hard to miss. Is the location of the nobles of the city known?" He fumbled for a seat. "Also, do you perchance have some wine? I've had nothing but flat water for what seems like a decade."

Talyn nodded,
"Jax," The jittery sellsword stuck his head in the solar, "Yes milord?"
"Wine for Lord Euric," He said, as the man closed the door again.
"I've not heard. I sent men under your old friend Corwyn Storm, to see what they could learn of the city, and who was captured and who might have escaped, but I've not heard back yet as to his success or failure."
Jax reappeared with a flagon of wine, and two metal goblets. Talyn didn't touch his, but gestured for Euric to indulge himself.

Euric took the goblet and drank deeply from it. "Corwyn tracked us down on the road north." He smiled. "They managed to free Alysanne and our son and were able to get a bit of information. Most of the nobility were apparently not able to flee. Good news about Royce though. Do you know anything else about the North or the Westerlands?"

"Conwell Lannister was here, and fled shortly after news broke about the burning of King's Landing. I suspect he wanted his father to be able to keep his options open, or at the very least, didn't want to serve as a hostage in the event his father did decided to defect from the Crown. I doubt Tyberion would be slowed by thought of losing a son from a second wife anyway, but there you are. As for the North, they've not stirred as far as I know, but Her Grace says she had Lady Beatrice imprisoned after an argument in the Red Keep. So if she is now with the Iron born, I'd say chances the North remains on the side are limited."

"Mhm." Euric said with a nod, finishing his wine. "If the north decides to join in the war we may be forced to petition Lannister's help. Taking this from a purely military position the North only really has one option to attack and that is through the Neck. If we can secure the Crossing they will be forced to continue down the Kings Road and we can meet them with a force around Lord Harroway's."

"The Crossing must be considered against us. Mallister would not have been able to cross there with his army to attempt to fight us without the permission of the Freys. So they have already enabled our enemies. If we were to act against them however, you can be sure that Lannister will enter against us, if he hasn't already."

"Which means we can't meet them at the entrance of the Neck without having Frey and Mallister attack our rear." Euric replied with a frown. "Any ideas where the Iron Born are heading? I know they've sailed north from reports along the Crownland coast."

Talyn shrugged his shoulders, "I have no information about anyone's movements except Mallister. He marched to the Bloody Gate, although for what purpose I can not say."

"It would be madness for him to ride there now." Euric replied. "If the North does march it would be futile to split up our force. I doubt they will march down one of the two paths but choose to stay our and the other side of the Green Fork, though Hag's Mire might slow down the force on the other side a little." He thought for a moment. "How many men of the Vale can we get?"

Talyn shrugged, "Assuming they are inclined to march? They'll want to leave men to protect Gultown, and Runestone lest they be raided by the ironborn, and they took severe damage in their recent battle against us. A few thousand, perhaps, at the most. I do not anticipate the North marching against us however. If Beatrice declares herself Queen in the North, it would be more sensible for her to simply fortify Moat Cailen and force us to act if we want to challenge her."

"Queen in the North?" Euric asked with a raised eyebrow. "Has it gotten that far?"

"What else could it possibly be Euric?" Talyn asked, "The Ironborn torched King's Landing. Not the act of men who intend to be ruled by anyone on the Iron Throne, regardless of who they are."

"If that bitch decides to wear a crown I'll remove it along with her head." Euric replied. "Damn it, we don't have the numbers, men or ships, and the terrain advantage is not in our favour either."

"No sense complaining about it now, "Talyn said, "We've broken one rebel, we can break the others."

"The Iron Born will be a problem." Euric commented. "Their fleet is vastly superior and if they use it wisely we won't have any ships within the end of the year. If we could get out hands on Greyjoy and Stark this would be so much easier. Or eliminate them somehow."
